You’re Easter Egg Roll roving reporter here. Just got word from the White House that it’s having an Easter Egg Roll Poster Contest for local schoolchildren. Michelle Obama will choose the winner which serve as the official 2010 White House Easter Egg Roll poster! The White House invites all District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia charter, magnet, and traditional public schools to submit one poster design per school by next Wednesday, March 3, 2010. I can’t wait to report LIVE from this event April 5th and will keep my eyes out for the winner.
The First Lady’s Top Pick Gets:
- Their logo featured on the White House 2010 Easter Egg Roll program.
- Invitations for the artist and their class to attend the Easter Egg Roll April 5th
History lesson for you: In the early 1800s, local children rolled eggs on the Capitol Steps the day after Easter. In 1878, President Rutherford B. Hayes invited D.C. area children to roll their Easter eggs on the White House lawn and a tradition was born, growing into the national event that it is today.
The poster should reflect this year’s theme “Ready, Set, Go!”. For more information about the poster contest entry process or www.whitehouse.gov/eastereggroll/poster

you’ll LOVE this event! I used to go to the Easter Egg Roll every year when my mom worked in the White House. SOOO much fun! Wish I could take Hadley to experience it. Enjoy!
Miss Amy and Her Big Kids Band, a NJ performer will be one of the many picked for this year’s Egg Roll. Her whole body of work is all about getting kids up and moving! She’s a perfect fit for Michelle Obama’s theme. see http://www.Missamykids.com
