It’s the only Academy sanctioned viewing party in DC. Oscar Night DC 2010 the third year was more glamorous than ever. You felt amongst stars at the Oscar fitting National Museum of Women in the Arts. My friends fell in love with the champagne glasses lined with honey topped with a fresh sprig of lavender. My guess is that the gorge gowns made for more people watching then Oscar viewing. Sandra, Monique, K. Bigelow and more… a little acceptance speech for you. We thank you giving us a reason to get decked out, wear uncomfortable kicks, eat fine food and party on a Sunday night. The events proceeds is one of the biggest fundraisers for our area’s Red Cross.

A while back I profiled Ingrid King, a local feline master teacher who did Reiki on my dear Atticus. I was so excited to see King’s new book because it’s something that as one reviewer described should be ‘A “must” for everyone who has ever loved a pet’. The story of her beautiful cat Buckley leads us through how our pets teach us to open our hearts to the world. It reveals lessons learned through the life and eventual death of a beloved friend.
OMG’s Erica Moody gets us pumped for Oscar night with Georgetown’s Get Fit: Countdown to the Oscars affair. Sponsored by Washington Life Magazine the red carpet affair included faux tux t-shirts, fitness and dance demos, clips of Oscar nominated films and good eats from an OMG fave Cafe’ Milano. The night raised money for the American Red Cross. Watch OMG on WUSA9 Monday morning to see video and more pictures fro the Oscar winning night! [Right: Sally Rey, Legislative Correspondent for Sen. Lisa Murkowski]
She lost her husband in divorce, her house, her hope and found herself in a terrible place. During my interview this morning I learned art is what helped Jane Seymour climb out of the dark hole she says so many of us fall in at some point in our lives. Yes ‘the JANE SEYMOUR’ the stunning, graceful acclaimed actor who the younger generation watched heal so many as the ultimate “Medicine Woman” is human! They’re are no actors that I can honestly say I would buy a product they’re selling based of who they are (Ok there was the Kim Kardashian diet but that one doesn’t count and ps. doesn’t work IMO) but Jane Seymour’s Keep an Open Heartcampaign is so much more. The idea that if your heart is open love will always find a way to get there is something we often forget. Her signature open heart design is featured on everything from jewelry to her own sculptures. Meet Jane and see her incredible art this weekend in Bethesda and McLean. It will be showing at the Wentworth Galleries.
PS: I knew about Jane Seymour before I could say “Jane”. My father has loved her since the day I was born. She is his one and only dreamgirl. With a kind heart she had this to say to the old man who often sleeps with his “Somewhere in Time” VHS under his pillow:
