NBC4 Holiday Party

People packed the house for the Peacock!  The NBC Washington holiday party was rockin’ at Redwood Restaurant in Bethesda. DJ Chris Styles had staff from NBC News and NBC4 on the dance floor all night. It was so nice to have a chance to celebrate the season with colleagues.

First time at ZooLights

I had my first ZooLights experience at the National Zoo and what a sight! It was bitter cold but don’t tell that to the baby. She was so excited to see the light displays cascading down tree branches like little comets. The animal displays all bright and lit up were a constant attraction. Of course we had to ride the choo choo and the carousel too. Had a great time with my co-anchor Richard who was a team player and jumped in the sled for our park photo! Don’t forget to bring cash and get the kettle corn. As for parking we did the zoo lot which was $16. Not bad considering ZooLights is free! You still have time to catch the shine!

Happy Turkey Day!

A big fat Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours! There are so many blessings to be thankful for.. it’s impossible to name. I just want to say it’s great to have awesome friends and family. A big thank you to all the men and women who serve in our US military. To all those who selflessly volunteer and give back to the community to make it just a little bit brighter– thanks to you too. Enjoy this day of reflection and don’t eat too much turkey 😉

and Santa is still scary

A year has passed since this picture was taken. Adora was clearly frightened by the fat man in red. I was SO hoping things in 2012 would go better.

Instead… this year was worse. In fact it was sheer terror for the near 2-year-old.

Not even a peppermint lollipop could calm her down.

Getting Geeky

Geek 2 Chic was another nerd smashing success! Held at Bloomingdale’s in Chevy Chase the runway show had some of the tech’s world’s biggest brains rocking the hottest fashions. The night benefited NFTE which helps kids in low income neighborhoods start businesses on their own! Jordon Brooks was the night’s big star. He’s the NFTE graduate who started his own graphics company… at 18! Thanks to Microsoft and Bloomie’s for teaming up on this awesome event. Stay tuned for a story to air on NBC4 on the fabulous night. I’ll keep you posted via twitter too!

Adam Conner of Facebook goes Gangnam Style!

2012: Purrfect candidate

I know as a journalist I’m not suppose to disclose who I’m  voting for but here goes.

Yep… I’m casting a ballot for the Kitty! Hello Kitty is officially running for President. She has quite the campaign already. Starting this month. HK’s Friendship Party street teams will be going door-to-door giving away free Hello Kitty campaign bumper stickers, buttons and yard signs.

Also look for the pop up campaign office. Starting November 1st Hello Kitty for President’s campaign HQ will pop-up for a week long residence at LivingSocial’s office on F Street.

Geek 2 Chic is BACK!

Tech world’s biggest brains gear up to show their smarts in style at Geek 2 Chic 2012. The show is produced by Microsoft in partnership with The Men’s Store at Bloomingdale’s. During the show, “geeks” from large companies, nonprofit organizations, tech startups, and public service wear the latest fashions as they raise funds for the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship.

NFTE provides programs that inspire young people from low-income communities to stay in school, recognize business opportunities, and plan for succesful futures.
