Project Fundway Rocks Runway, Awards Thousands

The Greater Washington Fashion Chamber of Commerce,  K Street Kate and D.C.  Councilmember Harry Thomas, Jr. hosted the 2nd annual Project FUNDway Fashion Design Competition at the historic Warner Theater this week.

Several  local youth designers who are in high school and college were chosen based on design construction, individuality and quality of their garments. Project FUNDway is a charity event that aims to assist young men and women for outstanding academic achievement and commitment to the practice of fashion design.

And the winners are…drumroll please!

$3000 FEDEX Scholarship: Angela Robinson of West Potomac Academy
$1000 Bruno Mazli Scholaship: Agata Miczek of Virginia Commonwealth University
$500 Downtown Silver Springs Scholarship: Daniel Herbick of Bethesda Chevy Chase High School
$250 Honorary Fashion Judge Scholarship: Kim Truong of Virginia Commonwealth University

Notable guest judges included The Aba Agency’s Aba Kwawu, DC Housewives’  Stacie Turner, WUSA’s Surae Chin, Washington Examiner’s Katy Adams, POSH Courture’s Jewell Green, Style for Hire’s Kara Allan, Janice Wallace of The Capitol Fashionista, VCU Fashion Design Professor Linda Lee, Maurisa Potts of  Spotted MP,  L’Shandi Designs and
Ryan Charchian of Rein Online.
