Tracking the Uncontacted

I am fascinated with the uncontacted. The indeginous people who have no contact with the outside world. My twitter friend Scott Wallace just so happens to be an expert in this field. He tells me the book grew out of an assignment for National Geographic following a 34-man expedition into the deepest recesses of the Amazon rainforest to track a mysterious tribe known only as the flecheiros — or “People of the Arrow“. He says they are warriors who defend their land with showers of poison-tipped arrows before melting back into the forest shadows. Our mission was not to make contact, but to map the tribe’s territory in order to protect the land and the group from outsiders. It’s an incredible tale.

Hear his gripping first-person account of adventure and survival as described in his new book: The Unconquered: In Search of the Amazon’s Last Uncontacted Tribes.

Wallace will be doing a lecture and book signing at National Geographic this Thursday November 3rd. Get more information here…
