This year Halloween festivities happened early. With Sandy on the way.. there’s no choice. The so-called Frankenstorm is sure to put a damper on holiday plans. I know we’ll be trading in our costumes for rain gear in the coming days. Be safe everyone!

A group of us hosts gathered at Bourbon Steak for some good grub (duck fat fries and truffle rolls!) so that we could recap the night and look ahead to things we can do in the future. We’d love your suggestions always too!

Recently I gathered with some other fun local morning news personalities to do an ice coffee taste test for Washingtonian Magazine. We can beg to differ when it comes to the best bean.. but we all agree with our wake-up call (before 3AM) old precious joe is crucial. The results of our taste test of area coffee is in the Washingtonian’s July issue which features the “Best of Washington.” The magazine did a fun behind-the-scenes video of the shoot too.

Thank you to everyone who came out for the Newsbabes Bash Kick Off at the new Kiehl’s at Tysons Corner. The store’s President Chris Salgardo surprised us with a $5,000 check to donate to the GW Mammovan which provides free screenings to women who can’t afford them in the area. Pink lemonade and Georgetown Cupcakes made the evening even sweeter. Also we announced wonderful details for our big bash benefiting the GW Mammovan.. save the date:

Happy Birthday Andrea Roane.. one of my dearest friends in this world. We had an enchanting afternoon at Cafe Milano. The celebration was hosted by Gwen Russell and Franco Nuschese, the owner of the landmark of a restaurant. In the left wing guests which ranged from co-workers, best friends and community leaders raised a glass and shared Andrea “moments” over an amazing 5 course meal. Thanks to Monika Samtani for capturing the awesome moments below.. yes it appears like a game of “Where’s Andrea” but she’s the birthday girl so she’s allowed to be in all the pictures!

Some of my greatest friends are in DC media. It was awesome to get together with a few of them to celebrate my new job. We may work at different outlets but we all love food and lots of it. We gathered at Carmine’s for a family style lunch that included a dessert bigger than Rebecca Cooper’s 3 kids (see photo). It was great to have some of my new co-workers John Schriffen and Rick Yarborough join us too! More photos by our dear friend Daniel Swartz at Revamp.com
On Wednesday September 21st where will you be? Can I convince you to join me and 46 brave moms at Union Station. These women will shave their heads in honor of their beautiful children battling cancer. It’s the 2nd Annual 46 Mommas Shave for the Brave and we want all the support we can get!
Celebrity shavers will be on hand to help the mommas out. They include media pals Arch Campbell, Alison Starling, Andrea Roane, Ed Henry, Tommy McFly, Natasha Barrett , Mary Amons and Flounder to name a few! Please come out and help cheer these wonderful women on. PR at Partners from Chevy Chase is bringing their talented team and photographer Tim Coburn will be doing before and after shots.
Why 46? That’s how many mothers are told each day that “your child has cancer.” The goal this year is to raise $1 Million dollars for St. Baldrick’s. We hope to see you at Union Station Sept. 21st!

Sometimes our in studio guests are more than welcomed– they are so badly needed! Say hello to Tony Jackson who stopped by the morning show today to talk about things you can do to relieve stress. He had me inhale and say “Ahhhh” on the exhale. Something so small really does help. Special thanks to Dr. Martina Washington and Ayo Handy-Kendi for joining us too. Oh and if you’re wondering why we’re doing this, today is National Relaxation Day. Check out the video from the morning show below!
