Incredible Video: Baby rescued from sewage pipe

I cannot believe my eyes. Here is the video of a baby in China that was rescued from  a sewage pipe under a squat toilet. It is a miracle indeed. The baby boy is believed to be just 2 days old and was found after residents said they could hear the baby’s cries through the pipes. Firefighters responded and found the baby. Last check, his heart rate was stabilizing and his breathing was better. No word if relatives have come forward.

Wizards Back to Ground Zero

It’s hard to believe that just four months ago, optimism abound around the Washington Wizards.

ESPN analysts were picking them as a sleeper in the Eastern Conference. Sports Illustrated predicted they’d be the four seed going into the playoffs. There was excitement around the franchise now that they’d finally have their Big 3 of Gilbert Arenas, Antwan Jamison and Caron Butler healthy and together again and had some good complimentary pieces around them.

A team that won just 15 games the previous season, mainly because of some key injuries, was now all of a sudden supposed to contend with the likes of the Celtics, Cavaliers, Magic and the Hawks.

Then came another injury, this time to newcomer Mike Miller, followed by the Gilbert-Javaris gun incident and their subsequent season-long suspensions just after the death of longtime beloved owner Abe Pollin. And now we have what looks to be a full-on fire sale of a core group of players once envisioned by Pollin as one that could potentially bring D.C. its first NBA title since the Bullets won it in 1978.

Gone are Butler, Brendan Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson – three starters on the Wizards’ last playoff team two years ago – and rumors continue to fly that Jamison could be out the door by Thursday’s trading deadline. The team would also love to wipe its hands of Gilbert, his awful decision-making and the $80 million left on his contract, and will likely try to have his contract voided and then release him pending his sentencing next month.

This is your perfect example of starting over, starting from scratch, whatever you want to call it. There’s a good chance the team will have a completely different starting five by the end of this week then it had to begin the season, and trips to the draft lottery seem to be a given the next couple of years for a team that had such high hopes back in October.

All this while the team they share their building with, the Capitals, have the best record in the NHL and the most exciting player in their sport in Alex Ovechkin.

The Wizards are officially back to where they were 10 years ago, when they were still known as the Clippers of the east. And this time there’s no Michael Jordan coming out of retirement to give the franchise a kick in the rear.

Super Sunday Isn’t Just About Football Girl

Unless your a Colts or a Saints fan (or in Las Vegas), you’re likely looking forward to something besides the outcome of this Sunday’s Super Bowl in Miami.

As much as I love to sit and listen to Phil Simms break down pass protections, blitz packages, the Manning family quarterbacking tree and Reggie Bush’s big-play capabilities most weekends throughout the year, I’ve gotten my fill with all the over-analyzing that goes on the two weeks leading up to the game. One can only take so much of John Clayton and Chris Mortensen reporting on Dwight Freeney’s ankle.

Once the 44th Super Bowl kicks off, my attention is focused on the women who will be in commercials, how much bean dip I can down, at what point to switch from beer to cranberry/vodkas and the inevitable arguments with fellow NFC East fans on what was the greatest Super Bowl champ to come out of the division; the ‘91 Redskins, one of the Big Three-led Cowboys teams or the ‘86 Giants that were quarterbacked by Simms? (This argument is also when Eagles fans, and their zero Super Bowl titles, get quiet … which is almost unheard of.)

Don’t get me wrong, the game is going to be fantastic. It’s the Saints and their fearless leader, undersized and underestimated (just ask the Dolphins, who passed on signing him a few year back) quarterback Drew Brees vs. the Chosen One (Manning) and his Jordanaires. It’s the battle of the teams with the best records in their respective conferences, the top two vote-getters in the MVP balloting (Manning and Brees), the first year coach (Indy’s Jim Caldwell) matched up with the coach who looks like he’s 13 (New Orleans’ Sean Payton), the Battle of the Reggies (Wayne and Bush), the Brickyard vs. Bourbon Street.

Whatever angle you want to view it from, it’ll be a great game and I’m sure you will enjoy it.

And don’t mind me, I’ll be the guy in the back of the room with beer stains on his shirt, bean dip on his chin and some pissed off Giants fan trying to come after me (my buddy Walt can tell you all about what that’s like) who keeps asking what the score is.

MD Lawmaker wants No Sex = Divorce

wusa9.comDon’t give it up should be reason for an official break up according to Montgomery County Delegate Luiz Simmons. WUSA9 reports Simmons wants courts to grant divorces to couples who go without sex for one year.

This would avoid the waiting period currently enforced that makes potential divorcees live apart before they can legally split.

So here’s my question. How does one prove this? And what about the situation where one just doesn’t want to let go and falsely claims “We do it”.  If this ever passed I can only imagine the explicit headlines and court documents in the offing.
