There is so much history, culture and things to brag about for each place we  stopped in. This fun summer field trip really opened my eyes and mind… motivating me to venture out beyond my comfort zone! Check out our #CelebratingSummer seriesonline. Stay tuned for our next stop…

Irene & Tomb of the Unknowns

There’s some pretty amazing images that have emerged from Irene all along the Eastern seaboard. I found  a couple of the most powerful not to be that of destruction and devestation… but of an utmost honor. These were posted on the 3rd U.S. INF Regiment The Old Guard’s Facebook page with the following caption: “A lone Tomb Sentinel, 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), walks his tour in humble reverence during Hurricane Irene in Arlington National Cemetery, Va., Aug 27. Members of The Old Guard have guarded the Tomb every second, of every day regardless of weather or holidays since April 6, 1948.”

Stylish Stars “Pop-Up”

Is this a news trend among stylish retailers.. pop-up shops within their own? It appears to be working.

The stars were out at a an exclusive pop-up shop in honor of DC fashion insiders. Guests scored designer Michael Stars Tees at South Moon Under while celebrating style group DC Fashion and Beauty Blogger.

FASHION DELEGATE: Where politics and fashion mix

Fun swag bags were given out that included a Michael Stars striped scarf.

The pop-up shop was held at South Moon’s arlington location.

‘Chocolate Chocolate’ is twice as sweet

Here’s a sweet story! The ‘Chocolate Chocolate’ launch party included a signing by the sisters while guests enjoyed gourmet chocolate and wine. READ MORE about the launch party! The next book signing is set for next Thursday, June 2nd at One More Page in Arlington.
When their beloved father died, all the Park sisters had left were each other and a small inheritance. In remembrance of their father and his love for confections, Frances and Ginger Park opened a small chocolate shop in DC called Chocolate Chocolate.

Twenty-six years later, the once run-down, falling apart chocolate shop is now a staple on Connecticut Ave. and an essential must-try in DC. The Park sisters celebrate their success and have published a book ‘Chocolate Chocolate’.

First Lady's Designer Gets 'All Doll'd Up'

See the full story as aired on the WUSA9 Morning Show

WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA)– Oh My GOFF! Angie Goff on Isabel Toldeo of First Lady fashion fame, named Designer of the Year.

The designer made famous by Michelle Obama was honored by Marymount University at the college’s Portfolio in Motion ‘All Doll’d Up’ show. Virtually unknown before fashion risk-taker Obama chose her to design an Inauguration Day ensemble, Isabel Toledo was named ‘Designer of the Year.’ She praised the young designers presenting their collections that night for their use of textured fabrics and creativity. She also urged them to stay inspired and true to their art, “and success will find you.”  Past recipients of the award include Michael Kors and Oscar de la Renta. Photo above by Moshe Zusman.

Birthday with Solid Friends & LiquidA

Thanks to sister-for-life Kristina Dorville who took it back old school to Arlington to celebrate my life. How old you ask? According to the picture on the right..I’d say about 5. (And while we’re on this picture why not add: cheeky Carissa is a supermodel- had to steal that one from Lauren P)

It’s a great example of a carefree night had by all at the Clarendon Grill in Arlington. Apparently, there was another girl named Katie celebrating her birthday too but my good friends made it clear to the band there was truly only ONE party in the house! All you had to do was look for the front row of friends who created the first ever ‘hit line’. Yep excessive ‘fist pumping’ was in the air and our energetic ring leader was none other than good friend Katherine Kennedy. If our performance didn’t win you over chances are we had you at “Want a mini red velvet cupcake from Bakeshop?”  Justin the owner of the new Arlington joint was so sweet to send dozens of the birthday bites our way.  [Pictured above: Carissa, Jesse, Dr. Alex, Angie & Lauren P. Don’t forget the liquid that kept us rockin’… LiquidA that is!
