See for yourself. In honor of your Royal Highness and his marriage to princess-in-waiting Catherine Middleton… The Ritz-Carlton, Washington DC is offering couples the Royal Wedding Experience. I scoped out the regal package that includes everything from the bride having their couture gown custom made to turning the ballroom into Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. OMG got a sneak peak at what’s in store. Luxury vendors who will help create a fairytale wedding inspired by Real-Royals include music by Entertainment Exchange, true English arrangements and decor by Capital Events & Decor, vintage jewels by Tiny Jewel Box, gowns by Carine’s Bridal Atelier, royal wedding wardrobe by SAKS Chevy Chase, cake by the Ritz’s Executive Pastry Chef Daniel Mangione and you’re very own “Royal Watcher” the fabulous Susan Nixon who will offer guidance on traditional British customs.

Lincoln: A President who's Poppin'

By Leigh Macdonald

Tomorrow evening, I’m hitting one of the hottest new night-out scenes in D.C.

Meet ArtJamz: an uncommonly creative concept by Michael M. Clements, Executive Editor of Washington Life Magazine. Last June, Clements launched ArtJamz, the first for-profit production of Genki Media LLC. Genki is a combination of the Japanese characters “Gen” and “Ki,” and it means “happy and healthy condition.” Well . . . by all accounts, it seems that Clements—through his wildly popular ArtJamz series—is indeed making meaningful strides toward the happy and healthy condition of Washingtonians.

What is ArtJamz? It’s open to anyone, online registration is easy, and ArtJammers needn’t bring a thing since Clements provides all needed materials. Indeed, upon arrival, you’ll receive a canvas (already set up on an easel, of course), paint, and materials. For the next few hours, you’ll enjoy wine, soft drinks, hors d’oeuvres, great music, and an artsy ArtJamz host. All the while, you and your fellow ArtJammers will be creating your very own original works of art. “Whoa!” you say, “I’m not an artist.” Not to worry . . . the ArtJamz sessions bring out the creative juices in even the most uncreative souls.

This weekend, ArtJamz is hosting its Lincoln Sessions. The Lincoln Sessions will take place on the 10th, 11th and 12th and will give ArtJammers a sneak peek at the highly anticipated opening of Lincoln Restaurant. Lincoln is owned and operated by Hudson Restaurant owner Alan Popovsky, and the destination will feature pop art from local artist, Maggie O’Neill.

At each of the three Lincoln Sessions, Maggie will paint alongside ArtJammers. February 10th is an invite-only affair aimed to bring in a who’s who of creative District influencers. The 11th and 12th sessions are open to anyone. By the way, Feb 12 is Abe Lincoln’s birthday, and I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate honest Abe than with ArtJamz at the city’s newest and most creative restaurant concept.

Courtside Salute & Surprise!

It was an honor to be part of the military tribute at the Legg Mason Tennis Tournament this year. The Yellow Ribbon Fund and USO teamed up to organize the ceremony that happened right before the start of the Semi-Finals.  I joined a group of nearly 30 made up of volunteers and friends and family of wounded warriors. We practiced the unfurling of the flag only once and nailed it when it was time to do it for the the crowd! It was an amazing feeling of patriotism… the last time I held the flag and helped fold it was in high school. One of my JROTC duties was to raise and take down the flag  before and after class. Watch coverage of the event on WUSA9 below… and check out more of the story including a special surprise on the stadium’s court. More…

Another touching moment was when Milkbone Canine Assistance awarded a disabled veteran with one of their amazing service dogs. The dogs can help with everything from pulling a wheelchair, to turning on lights to 90 other commands. The tennis players took time to say thank you and take a picture with the veteran.

Yellow Ribbon Fund’s Amanda Basek with husband Officer Erik Basek who is with the US Park Police SWAT Team.

My husband Robert enjoyed the opening reception
