Voltaggio shines at Chevy Chase Pavilion Party

Star chef Bryan Voltaggio cooked up quite the party last night at his new spot RANGE in Chevy Chase. It was part of Capitol File’s celebration of the Grand Re-Opening of Chevy Chase Pavilion. After words from Mayor Gray the party which started on the first level of the Pavilion moved up to RANGE. There guests helped themselves to unlimited raw bar, fine meats and cheeses, homemade brick oven pizzas and decadent desserts that seemed to never stop coming! My personal favorite was the goat cheese ravioli. The salted caramel sorbet was the perfect way to end the night. Oh and don’t go there and not get one of their homemade sodas. I was craving grapefruit! Overall it was something to celebrate. The new upgrades to the space are mod, open and inviting.

“Sex and the City” Creator Rooftop Party

The mind behind the Manolos– Candace Bushnell was in town talking Carrie before we knew her. Bushnell, an author and NYC columnist who inspired the famed SATC series and movies is taking us back, way back. Her new book Summer and the City (The Carrie Diaries) is the prequel to SATC introducing us to the lives of the fab four when they were friends in high school.

Bushnell who I found to be both fun and spunky did a rooftop book signing for an invitation only party atop the Residences on The Avenue. Notable guests included NBC4′s Eun Yang, Pamela Sorensen, Meredith Fineman, Cupcake stars Sophie Lamontagne and Katherine Kallinis, ABC7′s Pamela Brown and Capitol File’s Kate Bennett.

WHCD Weekend: Rented the dresses and all!

Michelle Obama donned a long Halston dress at the White House Correspondents Dinner the same designer I chose to wear too! Hers was probably a gazillion dollars where mine cost only$75bucks. HOW you ask? I RENTED it.

Yep-   It’s my new favorite thing. Renting dresses and jewelry from Rent-the-Runway.com. There’s designers fit for the First Lady you can rent for a fraction of the cost. I mean- some are only $25!  Not only did I rent the Jet Black Halston for the party night.. I got a Lela Rose dress for brunch the next day.

This is how it works. You choose the 4 day span to rent your dress for time to get it, wear it and mail it back. They give you all you need. Oh and here’s a perk- you can choose a second size for free! The Halston halter was $455 but I rented it for $75. I also rented the this $545 Dannijo cuff.. for $45.
