Morning show shower

It was more like a lunch.. but that’s how us at News4 Today like to celebrate special moments.  It was very sweet to have my dear friend Eun organize a little get together to toast baby Bob. The crew met up at Cactus Cantina for some guac, chips, fajitas and fun. We even had a couple of Bob’s future “boys” drop in.  Thank you to everyone for all the support.. I’m gonna miss you guys while on maternity leave. I’d like to say I’m not gonna miss the hours  I’ll likely  still be up during those ungodly hours on feeding duty!

Bring on the Southern Style

No one can argue it was spectacular weather this weekend. It was perfect for our Shrimp and Grits Kids party with girlfriends. Mimosas, pink lemonade, cucumber sandwiches had us ready for Spring! My sister Jenny went all out and made some specialized dessert– Pulitzer’s Pink Fluff, Sour Patch Grapes and tea cookies galore. It was awesome to have so many of my mama friends stop by on a sunny Sunday afternoon. We chatted and ooooed and ahhhed over the adorable smock, monogrammed and seer sucker clothing! Our girl Kere also brought the bling.. debuting Stella & Dot’s latest styles! Shout out to my friend Shannon who hosted at her gorgeous house!

There was great stuff from Bella Bliss too! I got this for Adora for 4th of July!

Easy Breakfast Casserole

I cooked again.. thanks to my gal pal Charlitta Rodrigues at work. She sometimes brings in this real tasty breakfast casserole that I can’t resist! She shared the recipe so that I could try to make it for Christmas morning. It was so easy.. especially for someone like myself..who doesn’t know how to cook! See for yourself and don’t forget the sour cream in the end.. it really does make it extra good!
INGREDIENTS
1 role of Jimmy Dean SPICY sausage (get the spicy – b/c that’s what adds the seasoning kick!)
1 large potato (or half bag of frozen potatoes – NOT w/the red/green peppers)
6-7 eggs
3/4 bag of mild cheddar cheese
1 can of cream of mushroom
Optional: half of white onion – chopped

DIRECTIONS
– brown sausage
– on medium heat… brown potatoes for about 20 mins in about 2 tsps of vegetable oil until soft. (optional: season w/salt & pepper) Don’t
be tempted to add more vegetable oil. If the potatoes stick – turn the heat down and cover with lid for about 3 mins. If that doesn’t work –
only then add oil. Too much oil will make them greasy.
– scramble eggs
-(optional) saute onions
-combine cooked sausage, potatoes and eggs (and onions) in a bowl
-add cream of mushroom
-add cheese (half of bag)
– mix well
-spread the casserole in a baking dish
-Cover casserole with 1/4 of bag of cheese
-bake for about 20 mins on 350 degrees… or until cheese is melted
-don’t spray baking dish. There’s enough oil from the sausage and cream of mushroom to be ok)
– Let cool.. and serve with a dollop of sour cream… and don’t forget the orange juice!

Filming at Paradise Springs Winery

We couldn’t have asked for a better day to head to Paradise Springs Winery. The weather was magnificent! I met my producer Jason Gittlen and intern Hillary on the grounds where we geared up to shoot a 30 minute Nonstop Scene DC Show. We walked the viewer through everything from the history of the place (It was built in the late 1700’s!) to the vineyard to production.
Extra sweet– a visit from my co-anchor Richard and weekend producer Charlitta! It was indeed a great day filled with fine wine and good friends. Tune in to our first show Monday November 19th at 10PM. Watch NBC Washington NonStop on Comcast 208,VZ FIOS 460 or COX 803.

At the entrance of Yates Ford Road in Clifton with owner Kirk Wiles.

News4 Today Witnesses Teddy’s Historic Win!

Wow what a Wednesday it’s been. We had a historic day at Nationals Park with the News4 Today morning team. TEDDY finally won (see my video here) the race and in the end the Nats took the game. The energy in the stadium was awesome. Now on to the playoffs!

Cake for breakfast

Kate Middleton who? There’s a real princess in the media and she’s got the crown, sash and cake fit for a queen (DQ baby!) to prove it. Happy birthday to producer Charlitta Rodrigues. Not only is she stylish.. she’s smart and sweeter than the two cakes our weekend morning crew got her put together. (Yet another example of how those in the communications business are perhaps the worst at communicating themselves) At least the misunderstanding means MORE CAKE FOR YOU!

Happy birthday princess

A ShamRockin’ Birthday

My St. Patrick’s Day got off to a great start. Around 5AM the wonderful morning show crew surprised me with cupcakes and a cake (that tasted like COSTCO cake- my favorite!). Between the flowers, facebook messages and tweets, phone calls and texts I feel very fortunate to have lived another year and to have had such incredible people in my life. Thank you! Be safe everyone and hope you strike the luck of the Irish today!

Remembering Mamie

We came ready to shop to support Mamie’s Mile and the National Down Syndrome Society. Created by Elizabeth Manresa and her husband Teddy Eynon the annual event kicks off the Spring race that is ran in memory of the couple’s daughter Mamie Grace. Photos by REVAMP

Brunch of Laughs

What a great way to wrap the weekend. The morning crew gathered for a nice brunch at Chadwick’s in NW after the show. It’s always great when there’s no deadlines and we can just relax, laugh and catch up.
