Feeling Frozen in Fall

We went to see Disney on Ice’s Frozen and it was fantastic! I loved how it told the story of Elsa and Anna from start to finish. It was a nice surprise to see some of the other Disney Princesses off the top (Snow White, Cinderella, Ariel, Rapunzel) along with Mickey and Minnie. Adora LOVED that!

Like any ice show the toys and sno cones and photos are pricey but if you go there knowing that you won’t be too shocked. The key is getting there early or leaving a few minutes early when you know it’s gonna end. This is perfect time to get the face painting done– which is quick and beautiful. 2 hours is a long time for a kiddo so leaving at intermission isn’t a bad idea if they’re getting ancy. The ice-conic “Let it Go” rounds out the first half and that’s what most little girls and boys wanna hear and see anyways. Really enjoyed seeing the show with my sis and her kids too.

Cartridge Couture

Did you know the FIRST dress to be made via a 3-D printer was done 10 years ago. It was known as the Drape Dress. An industrial engineer from the Netherlands created the 3D printable fabric back in the 90’s. He teamed up with Dutch designer.. Janne Kyttanen and this dress was born. The year was 2000.

I came across this after looking up Kyttanen. I had seen her new 3-D printed platform shoes. I tweeted them out– one person replied they looked like high-end crocs. They kinda do.

Then while reading WIRED I came across another Dutch designer named Iris Van Herpen. Her creations with 3-D printers are extraordinary. She’s not just doing this because she can… but because she really wants to find a way to integrate the new material into stuff people will really wear. “Code you can wear” is what she  calls it. So I guess the question is… if this printable fabric does become more popular.. who’s gonna wear it? After all some big brands are toying with the idea not because it’s cool.. but because it allows them to customize better. Check out the New Balance shoes below.

Easter pictures

Based off my experience taking Adora to see Santa I decided the Easter Bunny at the mall would probably not be a good idea just yet. What I do know is that my daughter loves hugging anything soft… stuffed animals, pillows and our yellow lab Atticus. When I heard about Heartsight Photography’s live bunny photos I signed up. I still wasn’t sure how Adora would do but she was what you would call picture perfect. We met photographer Lucia and her assistant at a park in Ashburn and within 10 minutes we had a baby, a bunny and a lot of happy giggles. I can’t wait to see the pictures. The only thing not planned was a wardrobe malfunction 1 hour before the shoot. While building a pillow fort Adora’s dress got caught on a trunk in my living room. It tore a huge whole down the left side of her Easter dress. Thank goodness for photoshop!

Wedding dress shopping

We were SO excited to go with our bride-to-be Heather Brown wedding gown shopping!  She found one she really liked and we did too. Picture? Of course we’re not gonna show you. All I can say is that she looked beautiful. While at the boutique some really pretty sashes caught our eyes. I also found a great look for any future M.O.B. Following some gown gazing… a revisit to our good ole’ days together down South. The BBQ Fest was going on at Madison Square Park.. and despite the rain the scene wasn’t anything less than porkfection.

The winning outfit

You voted… I rented! The off-white floral couture dress won out by a big margin. I wore the pink ombre Bacall earrings. Those sneaks belong to our beloved Bob Madigan
