Tickled Pink in Potomac

I cannot even begin to tell you how overwhelmed with emotion I am with all the support I’ve gotten from friends, family and co-workers over the last 8 months. My sisters Jenny and Tricia threw me a beautiful shower at good friend Dr. Alex’s Potomac home.

It was more than perfect– it was as I told the crowd– a room filled with so much love. Wish I could post the hundreds of pictures and special moments captured by REVAMP.com’s Daniel Swartz and Rita Lawrence with Bitsy Baby Photography. Please check out their galleries. Sweet thanks to Frosting: A Cupcakery for sending devilishly good dessert. No cupcake was left behind. Shout out to the gorgeous Lauren Von Der Pool and staff with green catering company Von Der Pool Gourmet.  I didn’t learn til after the party that the ‘beef wontons’ were vegan! I would’ve never known. They were delicious!

The best part of all? Seeing so many women from different phases of my life- high school, college, SC, DC, News, philanthropy and  mamas-to-be coming together to help me celebrate my first step into motherhood. Thank you everyone from me and baby “A”. Read more about the shower at REVAMP.com where Leigh Macdonald wrote a very kind recap of the party.

Morning Glory Private Screening

Thanks to all who came out for the private screening of news comedy  Morning Glory starring Harrison Ford and Rachel McAdams.  Big shout outs to members of the 9NEWS morning team who stayed out on a school night: Andrea, Mike, Kristine and Producer Dan and Heather!

We had a great night and enjoyed seeing our colleague Mike Hydeck in the opening scenes playing a local anchorman. His performance (along side Colin Powell’s daughter) was bravo bravo! Special thanks to Paramount Pictures and Allied Marketing for helping organize the feature presentation affair. Morning Glory is now in theaters.

Oh Snap! And the Oscar goes to…

Kevin, Becky, Claudia & Kate

It’s the only Academy sanctioned viewing party in DC. Oscar Night DC 2010 the third year was more glamorous than ever.  You felt amongst stars at the Oscar fitting National Museum of Women in the Arts. My friends fell in love with the champagne glasses lined with honey topped with a fresh sprig of lavender. My guess is that the gorge gowns made for more people watching then Oscar viewing. Sandra, Monique, K. Bigelow and more…  a little acceptance speech for you. We thank you giving us a reason to get decked out, wear uncomfortable kicks, eat fine food and party on a Sunday night. The events proceeds is one of the biggest fundraisers for our area’s Red Cross.

George Mason Homecoming

Coach Larranaga

What a heartbreaker it was Saturday night at the Patriot Center. Homecoming ended with a very close loss and what many would say a very bad call against George Mason in the weeeee seconds left in the game. Charleston played a strong game as expected following their recent win over NC.

Thanks to Emily Nolan and our fave grandpa for scoring us amazing floor seats. Ren & Chin and the hubby enjoyed the view. Also, big hats off to Coach L who put on a big smile and took the time to come out to meet my father (a big fan) following the tough loss.

… but according to below the balloons were not! An intimate crowd enjoyed lit countdown and silver balloon release at the Park Hyatt Georgetown.  There was an amazing spread and chocolate bar with enough free flowin’ champagne to fill the Potomac.

Happy 2010!
