Luke’s Wings heard about our son, Brent Aber, who has been at Walter Reed Medical Center for almost 2 years going through numerous surgeries to repair his foot and also for care of a Traumatic Brain Injury. Brent was scheduled to have a 5th surgery to try to save his foot and doctors had requested that his parents be present during the pre-op consultation and surgery due to the severity of the situation. I had not seen my son in a year and my husband had not seen Brent in 2yrs. Luke’s Wings contacted us and said they wanted to help us.You have no idea what it like to have a complete stranger come to you and offer help at a time like this. I had never heard of this organization and they did not know me so why would they want to help? The answer is because they care! They flew my husband and me round trip from Akron, OH to Washington D.C. last week. They made all the arrangements – this was just one less thing we had to worry about. They told us they were hosting a fundraiser this coming week to pay for our tickets and others too.
I’m reaching out to you personally asking you to please purchase a ticket to their Fashion Takes Flight fundraiser at http://fashiontakesflight2010.eventbrite.com/ or make a small donation www.lukeswings.org so that they can continue to lend support to the families of our military men and women. You never know when you or someone you know or love may need their help. Our family does.
