Royal Wedding Exclusive: The cake will be baked by…

We are 43 days away from the Royal Wedding and more sweet details are starting to surface. Today I got the scoop on who’s making Prince William and Kate’s wedding cake. I’m told the cake will be baked by one of the Armed Forces, most likely the Royal Navy. This is expected to be formally announced later this week. All of this according to our own Royals insider Hilary Fordwich… who’s dear friend is the former head of household at Buckingham Palace and who was also a planner of Prince Andrew and Fergie’s big day.

Fordwich who will join me on the 9NEWS Morning Show weekly leading up to the wedding says the Royal Navy has a fantastic catering corps at Chatham in Kent and they also baked the cake for Princess Diana and the Duchess of York. An insider tidbit: with the Armed Services they normally have one spare cake in case of emergency!

You may have read about other cakes that will be made for the wedding… Fordwich informs me that the Royal Couple is inundated with offers of food and particularly cakes. Oh Snap! 'Young Victoria' Screening

A select group of Washingtonians got a sneak peak of Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York’s new film “The Young Victoria“. The movie event began with a VIP reception at Degrees Bar in the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown. That’s where makeup artists from Red Door gave complimentary touch ups for the ladies… and specialty cocktails and Georgetown Cupcakes were on the menu.

OMG reader Kirstin Holmes, an event planner from Alexandria was just smashing in her faux fur and vintage dress from a NYC boutique! She offered this review:

“The Young Victoria was a well put together film, full of romance and rebellion.  Emily Blunt portrayed young Victoria with attitude and charm.  The film was proper and yet really captured the real personalities of everyone in it that might not have been.  Angie, I soo agree with you on wanting to live in this time period.  Everything is so elegant!”

“The Young Victoria” opens in limited theaters Friday.
