Adora is a sweet ONE!

I cannot believe 1 year has passed since the first day I became a mom. There are already so many memories (and exploding memory card) that I can’t imagine how we’re gonna find roomformore. I know we will though.

Happy birthday Adora Kate. Thank you for bringing pure joy into our lives. Adora wants to say thank you to her playmates who all came out to celebrate. We gathered for the famous frozen hot chocolate and cake at Serendipity 3 in Georgetown. The theme was Adora’s Winter Candy Land Party and boy was it sweet. We had Adora candy, santa hats, marshmellow snowmen and a Willy Wonka inspired cake complete with edible Oompa Loompa and a real monster gummy bear.  Serendipity’s pastry chef surprised us all!

Speaking of cake… of course there was a “smash cake” and boy did baby girl destroy it!  In the end she ended up dress-less because of it and was running around the restaurant in just her diaper and stockings.Classy.

This year we asked for no gifts but suggested bringing an unwrapped toy to donate to charity this Christmas. Thank you to all who helped fill the box. Adora is excited to deliver the toys to Children’s Hospital.  Enjoy the pictures.. they’re delicious and be warned there are a ton.

Fashion’s Night Out

Pounding Rain, 2 and half hours sitting in traffic.. nothing could keep me away from Fashion’s Night Out. I joined good girlfriends to toast FNO Georgetown at the VIP reception held at L2. From their we made our rounds to Dean & Deluca, Nectar Skin Bar, Intermix  and more. We enjoyed Citronelle’s fashion show and great wining and dining at Peacock Cafe’ after hours.  Check out more pictures from DC’s most fashionable night!

Oh and of course you know who had to partake in FNO! Check out her new boots.

Fashion’s Night Out

Mom was a host for the big FNO Georgetown DC event tonight. With a goal to pump more money into the economy and with the President speaking about all our money matters tonight- I figured I’d do my part. Say hello to my new knee high Kenneth Coles.

Full circle

It’s not quite statement jewelry but it’s not benign either.

I’m really digging this gold oversized circle pendant with a mini circle and gems within. Held together by wrapped wire it has an artisan edge. But it’s not too artsy-fartsy… still has some city trend.I like that the thin gold chain keeps it somewhat simple and easy to wear with casual tops.

Face Time

When it come to putting my makeup on I often say “It’s time for me to go paint my face.” Between the lotion, the primer, the matte cream, the liquid foundation, the powder, the highlighter, the bronzer and of course the blush I end up feeling like a work of something. Everyday I pile that stuff on for work knowing it’s the last thing my poor pores need.

I wish I could say I take care of my skin. I exfoliate, I get facials but in reality I don’t. In fact, I’d much rather get a massage over a little face time when it’s between the two.

But recently I decided it was time to apologize to face and reward it with a little revival. I headed to new posh new spa Nectar Skin Bar in Georgetown.

That’s where brow and face guru Adrian Avila gave me an intraceuticals oxygen infusion facial. A what? It sounds fancy but it’s real simple. He re-hydrated my skin by using topical oxygen. It’s also infused with vitamins, anti-oxidants and hyaluronic acid to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin.

Don’t even ask me what all that is.. just know the results were glowing and I felt great!

Next visit: I’m planning to meet up with Kaitlin who I hear gives the best organic chocolate spray tan.  Yep sugar that safely sun kisses you..  you can even top it off with some caramel bronzer. Who could resist!
