Wounded warriors hit the links

Veteran with Gen. Stanley McChrystal. Photo Credit: Michael Clements Photography

It’s one of my favorite events of the year: The Yellow Ribbon Fund Army-Navy Golf Classic. This year General Stanley McChrystal was the guest of honor. Once again we had the chance to meet some amazing heroes at the tourney that pairs injured service members with supporters on the greens.

Golfers this year raised more than $217,000 for the Yellow Ribbon Fund. YRF supports injured servicemembers in the area and their families.  I was honored to co-host the awards ceremony with This Week in Defense host Vago Muradian. Photos by Michael Clements. Tune in to WUSA9’s Morning Show Wednesday to see coverage from the great day!

Golfing for Little Zach

Come out and golf to help raise money and awareness for Neuroblastoma (a type of childhood cancer) at the First Annual Band of Parents Golf Invitational on September 20th. The tournament – put together by Amber Yost, mother of Neuroblastoma survivor Zach – is being held at the Bristow Manor Golf Club  in Bristow, VA, and there are plenty of spaces left to play. If you can’t make it, you can also sponsor a hole on the green.

**Black picture means it’s in commercial**

Watch WUSA9‘s LIVE stream of Tiger’s first public appearance since news broke of his rumored affairs. He is expected to “make amends”  in his statement and will not be taking any questions. My colleage Andrea Roane was taking yours though on Facebook. She wanted to know what YOU would ask Tiger if you could. Many of you are sounding off.
