Voltaggio shines at Chevy Chase Pavilion Party

Star chef Bryan Voltaggio cooked up quite the party last night at his new spot RANGE in Chevy Chase. It was part of Capitol File’s celebration of the Grand Re-Opening of Chevy Chase Pavilion. After words from Mayor Gray the party which started on the first level of the Pavilion moved up to RANGE. There guests helped themselves to unlimited raw bar, fine meats and cheeses, homemade brick oven pizzas and decadent desserts that seemed to never stop coming! My personal favorite was the goat cheese ravioli. The salted caramel sorbet was the perfect way to end the night. Oh and don’t go there and not get one of their homemade sodas. I was craving grapefruit! Overall it was something to celebrate. The new upgrades to the space are mod, open and inviting.

Look! Lilly lands in Northern Virginia

If you know me you know I’m a huge Lilly Pulitzer fan which is why I was so excited to find out there was a new store opening at Tysons Galleria. My little Lilly girl and I stopped by for their pink posh grand opening. It was like a Lilly wonderland… surrounded by new patterns on their classic cuts and styles!

A pink toast to all things pretty!

Such a great choice for a Spring horse race.

Someone really liked what she saw!

Like this adorable number for girls.

More pink lemonade please

Windows for Washington

Store wide open. The entrance to the new Microsoft Store at Tysons Corner Center reflects that of a big window. Hmmm. It’s the first of it’s kind in the DC area. From first glance it looks like an Apple Store set up.. but get closer and you’ll notice differences.

NBC4: Microsoft Store Opens

The tables have wood trim there’s gaming set ups including controls against one wall… there’s a dance game area… something called the heat room which is a place Microsoft can host events and seminars. Kids played games on the touchscreen tables… and I saw one adult playing a game of virtual chess. The new Microsoft store is very interactive which proved inviting on opening day.

Dandelion Patch Grand Opening in Leesburg

I’m loving Leesburg these days.. mostly because I’m out there a lot more with my sister living there now. Well for all of you who love great stationary, Lilly, Vera and all those cute lady boutiquy things you’ll love The Dandelion Patch. Owner, Heidi Kallett just opened her 4th store. The new shop is in The Village At Leesburg. Spotted at the ribbon cutting: Loudoun County Woman co-publisher Dan Doll, Mayor Kristen Umstattd and a too cute for words Little Miss Old Dominion Hannah Reece.

Moshe’s Exciting Move

One of my favorite photographers has moved. It’s a good one though. Moshe Zusman moved into an amazing studio space right on Florida Avenue and 14th Street. The corner studio has sky high ceilings, two floors and a gorgeous display of some of his most magnificent work. We dropped by the Grand Opening of Moshe Zusman Photography presented by DC Magazine.

“Serendipity 3” Sweet DC Debut

Georgetown just got even sweeter. The famous New York restaurant Serendipity 3 is now open in DC. On the menu… the shop’s famous Frrrozen Hot Chocolate and footlong hotdogs.

The restaurant has been a favorite of celebs for decades. The likes of Marilyn Monroe and Andy Warhol use to come to treat the sweet tooth! These days famous fans include Tom Cruise and Suri, Oprah, Britney Spears and Kim Kardashian.

harth Opening: Hot Eats, Cool Show

The storms couldn’t put a damper on the red hot grand opening of harth, the new signature restaurant at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner. We were greeted by fire breathers and dancers. The red carpet came out for the celebration that drew hundreds of hungry Washingtonians. Guests enjoyed a sampling of what harth has to offer- food that supports local farmers! LOVIN THAT! One of my faves: Cheddar and Chives Popovers made with poached eggs, sundried tomato hollandaise and bacon jam. Loved the contrast of wood fire burning ovens and dripping ice bars in the lobby. SAKS presented an eye-pleasing show with this summer’s most stylish bikinis and big hats. The cool finale– two ice carvers jammin’ out while creating a sculpture for the audience. Loved having my sister Tricia who is visiting from Texas join me. She was a great help with Adora while I shot video.

'Dandelion Patch' branches out to DC

Congrats to Heidi Kallett for opening her first store in Washington.. the Dandelion Patch comes to Georgetown. My fave location is at Reston Town Center– it’s where I get my personalized stationary! Kallett cuts the ribbon with the help of  Katherine Kennedy, Annie Lou Bayly and Pamela Sorensen.

John Legend Brings Soul to Gucci Grand Opening

John Legend at GUCCI talks about how his campaign is helping

A fashionable group gathered for a private cocktail party to celebrate the opening of Gucci’s new store in Tysons Galleria. Six-time Grammy Award winner, John Legend, hosted the event, which benefited Legend’s Show Me Campaign. Legend also encouraged the group to pick up his newest album, entitled “Wake Up!”.  Leigh Macdonald contributed to this report.

A taste of Italia comes to Bethesda. We were there for the VIP Grand Opening of Vapiano on Bethesda Row. Between the ages-old  olive trees and the warm mod decor… a blend of past and present was strong in the new restaurant. Vapiano’s offers a neat set-up… celebrating the concept of mediterranean group cooking. Guests’ meals are made-to-order right before your eyes. We tried the bruschetta, warm breads, basil pasta, chicken alfredo and of course thin crust pizza. In the end.. you get a hearty affordable meal while dining among an urban upscale feel.
