FAMILY Magazine mom profile

The May FAMILY Magazine issue is out and we had so much fun being a part of it.  Adora was a little crazy at the shoot.. but she’s just 2 after all. Special thanks to photographer Cyndy Porter and Cornwell Styling’s James and Carla. The team was phenomenal and SO patient! Being interviewed by veteran writer Charlene Giannetti was a great experience too. You can find the magazine pretty much everywhere across town.. but you can also check out the digital copy.  We’ve got behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot too.

BTS: FAMILY Magazine Photo Shoot

A few months ago FAMILY Magazine contacted me and wanted to see if Adora and I would be up for shooting a cover for their May edition. At the time I hadn’t told anyone I was expecting but felt I had to spill the beans to the editor-in-chief Brenda before saying yes. She was thrilled to hear the news and since the May magazine is a moms edition she thought it was perfect. We did our first cover with the magazine in May of 2011.. it was right after Adora was born. Man, how time has flown by… and she’s grown so much!

We wrapped our shoot and it was tons of fun.. although Adora wasn’t the most cooperative when it came to shooting. Photographer Cyndy Porter was so great and understanding. Afterall, the little munchkin is only two. Special thanks to James Cornwell and make up artist Carla for their great styling. We can’t wait to see how the shots turn out. More to come… in May!

Jenny’s Winter Wedding

Everything was picture perfect down in historic Winchester. The day finally came to see my baby sister tie the knot. She was gorgeous in a custom made dress that floated down the aisle. Her best friends in a deep winter green all by her side. The groom glowing and so handsome. Minus a little disruption during the ceremony by a 2 year old who shall remain nameless (but had to be kindly removed) everything went smoothly. Of course it’ll be a while before we get the amazing photos from photographer Katharine but thanks to social media we get to quickly reflect on one of our family’s happiest days yet.

One of Katharine’s preliminary photos!

Our buddy James Cornwell and crew did an amazing job with hair and make-up!

There was an awesome photo booth

As a bridesmaids gift.. Jenny gave us all fur stoles!

The groom’s cake rocked! Chris is a big motorcycle buff.. their little Knox is riding on the back!

Happy Family!

Pretty bridesmaids Kristin and Molley

During the father-daughter dance my dad broke out Gangnam Style! It brought the place down!

Our old pal Flounder kept the party going!

Baby sister is Goff the Market!

Tiny dancer was a big hit all night!

Trim Time Goes By

It’s bad enough I wait too long to get my own haircut but now I have to worry about her hair too! Adora’s hair grows so fast and before you know it she can’t see. Today we stopped by James’ studio for a little trim. I am amazed at how much she has grown in a year. The best part of keeping a daily baby blog.. I can go back to exactly a year from today and see what she looked like and what she was up to.

This was a year ago…March 23, 2011

and how that time flies

Luke’s Wings held it’s 4th annual Fashion Takes Flight at the Washington Nationals Park. Models, fashionistas, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, and DC socialites came out to support the event for an organization that flies families of wounded soldiers to see their loved ones during the recovery process.

James Cornwell and his team did a magnificent job styling!

Maybe there’s a mohawk in the future… but for now we did a simple bowl cut inspired bang. We didn’t touch the curls in the back and figure this is just enough to give her room to see when she tears her hated bows and pins out. I think stylist James Cornwell was more scared of Adora than she was of his scissors!

It didn’t start pretty!

The first cut!

So far so good

Sorry gotta take this

Just add bow

Now I look like mom!

Hair clip-ons are cool!

Stylist James Cornwell from PR at Partners joined me in studio to show how easy it is to get great holiday hair. He also says “don’t be afraid of the clip-on!” James shows us how easy and how great they really look this holiday season!
