Bob & Ava Meet their Extended News Family

Big thanks to dear friends Rebecca Cooper and Jill Collins for throwing the best Sip ‘n’ See at Carmine’s for Bob and Alison Starling’s little Ava. It was a wonderful way to get the babies together (which you can tell Ava is already crushin’) and show them off to all our great friends in the business! Media Family Style

Some of my greatest friends are in DC media. It was awesome to get together with a few of them to celebrate my new job. We may work at different outlets but we all love food and lots of it. We gathered at Carmine’s for a family style lunch that included a dessert bigger than Rebecca Cooper’s 3 kids (see photo). It was great to have some of my new co-workers John Schriffen and Rick Yarborough join us too!  More photos by our dear friend Daniel Swartz at Revamp.com

In time for fashion week: DC moms hit runway

So who are the “Runway Moms?”

The “Runway Moms for a Cause” also known as RMAC is an impactful intersection of philanthropy and fashion at its best.  They are hosting a runway show for an often overlooked issue all while trying to help find a solution.

The inaugural black tie event will focus on influential Washington DC mothers raising funds for Orphans through the United for Kids Foundation. The event will be hosted by new momma, FOX5’s Maureen Umeh.

Mark your calendar Friday, September 30th, 2011 at 6:30 pm at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Come support this awesome women and role models including good friends of OMG: Aba Kwawu, Rebecca Cooper, Maimah Karmo, Maggy Francois and Kelly Collis just to name a few!

How do you like them cupcakes

Green bagels, cupcakes, the circus is in town.. what more could a girls ask for on her birthday. I admit it. It’s the best day to be born. For the rest of your life you know that no matter what there’s gonna be a party. Thank you so much for all of your bday wishes on my twitter and facebook page. I have such great friends and viewers. My traffic bud Kris even made me cupcakes and the newsroom gave me a big card. Birthday shout outs  for fellow green babies PR maven Jill Collins, Politico’s Tim Burger and OMG loyal reader and childhood bud Isabel Chacon Martinez!

SAVE YOUR WET CELL THIS ST. PATRICK’S
Whether you’re trying to survive another year or the biggest drinking day on the calendar I hope it’s a good one.  My gift to you: Tips courtesy of the Geek Squad on saving your wet cell phone after it falls into a mug of green stuff! C’mon.. we’ve all been there.
1) Turn off phone and remove battery
2) Dry the phone (inside & out) with clean cloth
3) Check if you have beef jerky or uncooked rice
4) If Beef Jerky take the silica packet and put it in an airtight container with the phone and leave it overnight. If rice, pour the rice inside the airtight container and put your phone in the rice and leave overnight.
5) Replace battery and turn it on!
