Voltaggio shines at Chevy Chase Pavilion Party

Star chef Bryan Voltaggio cooked up quite the party last night at his new spot RANGE in Chevy Chase. It was part of Capitol File’s celebration of the Grand Re-Opening of Chevy Chase Pavilion. After words from Mayor Gray the party which started on the first level of the Pavilion moved up to RANGE. There guests helped themselves to unlimited raw bar, fine meats and cheeses, homemade brick oven pizzas and decadent desserts that seemed to never stop coming! My personal favorite was the goat cheese ravioli. The salted caramel sorbet was the perfect way to end the night. Oh and don’t go there and not get one of their homemade sodas. I was craving grapefruit! Overall it was something to celebrate. The new upgrades to the space are mod, open and inviting.

Lilly Pulitzer Mother-Daughter Tea & Fashion Show

It’s one of my favorite events of the year… the Tickled Pink Mother-Daughter Tea and Fashion Show at the Fairmont. It benefits the Make a Wish. The Pink Palm helps us pick out all our Lilly Pulitzer. It’s definitely the ultimate gathering for the girls and the kids love it. Adora actually walked this year and had a hilarious debut. When people started calpping for her.. she joined them in clapping for herself. When she saw dad in the crowd she started yelling and with arms wide open tried to run off the stage to him– precious! Divorced Parents Forced to Co-Parent Online

Kelly Collis like many divorcees, found co-parenting complicated, which could be why more courts are turning to the Internet to help, ordering parents like Collis and her ex-husband to use online software to keep the peace after the split.

Divorcees forced to co-parent online

Kelly Collis and kids using online software

Tonight I’m working on a story that affects many people: Divorce. We don’t see the issue in mainstream media much but we know the matter is huge in homes across the country. On my Facebook page I asked what is the toughest part of being divorced? I got a lot of responses but heard one thing over and over again- children. I included just a couple below. Tonight on News4 at 11 I explore new ways judges are trying to keep the peace and keep families out of court. The tools they’re using appear to be a growing trend among something that for so long has been considered taboo. I’m grateful to sit down with radio personality, mom and recent divorcee Kelly Collis. She shares her story and how technology ordered by the Judge is keeping the conflict out of co-parenting.

Media Family Style

Some of my greatest friends are in DC media. It was awesome to get together with a few of them to celebrate my new job. We may work at different outlets but we all love food and lots of it. We gathered at Carmine’s for a family style lunch that included a dessert bigger than Rebecca Cooper’s 3 kids (see photo). It was great to have some of my new co-workers John Schriffen and Rick Yarborough join us too!  More photos by our dear friend Daniel Swartz at Revamp.com

Where the beef… meets broadcast

Shawn, Me and Elaine with Chef Philippe Reininger

The weather was perfect for an afternoon lunch with the news gals here in DC. This time we gathered at the new J&G Steakhouse on 15th and Pennsylvania. As we enjoyed appetizing fried calamari and rice cracker crusted tuna we laughed about being moms and the new “Go the ___ to Sleep” book that’s all the rave these days amongst parents. When it was entree’ time we were impressed to find out that the steakhouse is vegan friendly! A couple of the gals had no problem ordering. Halibut in a scallion-spicy chili sauce was a popular pick this day. I was also happy to see they have Sips & Bites from 5-7pm on weekdays where you can get smaller portions of their dishes paired with wine at the wine bar.

It was also great to chit chat with cityshopgirl turned radio host Kelly Collis who recently helped launch the new morning show on 94.7 FRESH FM. Shout out to Eun Yang for arranging the get together… really enjoyed catching up with all the girls at the table.. Anita Brikman, Lesli Foster, Elaine Reyes and Shawn Yancy!
