Happy Labor Day

Hey, hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend. I went down to Irvington Virginia for a relaxing visit to Tides Inn. The little Chesapeake Bay resort is a good quick getaway. We overlooked the marina and met some really nice people from Newport News to Vienna. The weather was picture perfect, ate most of our meals outside. We were next to a small town I’m quite fond of.. Kilmarnock. A little more than a year ago I stayed in the town’s Inn. I seriously felt like I was in a movie back in colonial times. I just love this stuff. True little old town America.

Greenbelt festival still rockin' after 56 years

By Rachel Demita, special to OMG

Family and friends flocked to the 56th annual Greenbelt Labor Day Festival for food, friends and  a whole lot of fun!

The stage was rockin’ with musical performances from The Reagan Years, Sam’O & JFC, CPR band and The Hubcaps, while Elvis impersonator, Johnny Seaton kept fans dancing in their blue suede shoes.    Locals even took the stage themselves for Greenbelt Idols, Greenbelt talent show and Miss Greenbelt pageant.

The Carnival Midway in the Roosevelt center parking lot was filled with rides and games for the whole family to enjoy.  From vegan specialty booths to ‘Chicken on a Stick’, and funnel cakes to ice cream, guests’ stomachs were surely satisfied.  There were over 20 booths at the carnival; a few included the Greenbelt Elementary PTA booksale and Greenbelt Nursery easel painting booth.
