Color Rules Ball on the Mall

Gorgeous gowns with pops of color graced the grounds of the National Mall.  The L’Enfant Society hosted  ‘Ball on the Mall’ to support Trust for the National Mall. More than 1,000 guests gathered for this incredible party.

The night also honored the country and culture of Japan in launching the year-long centennial celebration of the Cherry Blossom trees and the Trust’s efforts to fund the Cherry Tree Endowment. The Trust donated 10% of all funds from the Ball’s silent auction to the Red Cross’ relief efforts for those affected by the recent earthquake and Tsunami.

WTG to two women we LOVE!

Congrats to my friend Pamela Sorensen for 4 fabulous years of keeping Washington in the know! She recently celebrated the blogiversary  of Pamela’s Punch with style at the Sofitel Lafayette Square. The Parisian Party got poppin’ with a champagne toast from Perriet Jouet! And lucky Lindley Thornburg walked away the big winner of the night… scoring a free tip to Paris! Also this week… a very important milestone for Maimah Karmo. She celebrates 4 years TOO … but 4 years of being cancer-free! The founder of the Tigerlily Foundation has gone on to help young women across DC cope with the emotional and financial challenges involved in fighting breast cancer. The Capital Club hosted a night of cocktails and carousing that would’ve  made Ol’ Blue Eyes proud.

From Spies to Pies… Ex-CIA intelligence officer Kay Shaw Nelson was at Zola Restaurant on F Street for a wine and book discussion. “The Cloak and Dagger Cook, A CIA Memoir”  covers Nelson’s time in the CIA with recipes inspired by her travels.

She said her interest in food was first work-related, saying  “When people were reluctant to talk about their personal life, “I could always get a lively discussion going about food.”
