Fine Art for as low as $100

Looking for some fine art for the home or the office? The Greater Reston Arts Center (GRACE) will present it’s popular C-Note Art Sale. We’re talking more than 300 pieces of original artwork by notable artists going for as low as $100.

Potential buyers can preview the works available during gallery hours between Sept 9-15th. On Thursday, the 15th at 5pm guests will line up to buy the art right off the walls!

Available artworks include pieces made exclusively for this event by stone sculptor David Petlowany, painter Connie Slack, watercolor artist Dana Ann Scheurer, printmaker Joseph Craig English and fiber artist Candiss Cole. The sale will also feature contemporary ceramic pieces by Ann Batton and Thomas Clarkson, colorful mixed media pieces by local favorites Ann Barbieri, Laurie Fields and Gina Cochran. Sophisticated jewelry pieces by Geoffrey Giles, Caroline Viene, and Erica Zap. As well as exciting hand pulled prints by Stephanie George and Paula Wachsstcok and fantastic photographs by award winning artists Catherine Day, Marie Gruber and Laura Howell.

The sale of the artwork will continue during extended gallery hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 16 – 18, 2011. The fundraiser supports GRACE’s exhibitions, educational programing and the participating artists – many of whom are donating their entire portion of the sale of their work to GRACE.

Moshe’s Exciting Move

One of my favorite photographers has moved. It’s a good one though. Moshe Zusman moved into an amazing studio space right on Florida Avenue and 14th Street. The corner studio has sky high ceilings, two floors and a gorgeous display of some of his most magnificent work. We dropped by the Grand Opening of Moshe Zusman Photography presented by DC Magazine.

Tickled Pink in Potomac

I cannot even begin to tell you how overwhelmed with emotion I am with all the support I’ve gotten from friends, family and co-workers over the last 8 months. My sisters Jenny and Tricia threw me a beautiful shower at good friend Dr. Alex’s Potomac home.

It was more than perfect– it was as I told the crowd– a room filled with so much love. Wish I could post the hundreds of pictures and special moments captured by REVAMP.com’s Daniel Swartz and Rita Lawrence with Bitsy Baby Photography. Please check out their galleries. Sweet thanks to Frosting: A Cupcakery for sending devilishly good dessert. No cupcake was left behind. Shout out to the gorgeous Lauren Von Der Pool and staff with green catering company Von Der Pool Gourmet.  I didn’t learn til after the party that the ‘beef wontons’ were vegan! I would’ve never known. They were delicious!

The best part of all? Seeing so many women from different phases of my life- high school, college, SC, DC, News, philanthropy and  mamas-to-be coming together to help me celebrate my first step into motherhood. Thank you everyone from me and baby “A”. Read more about the shower at REVAMP.com where Leigh Macdonald wrote a very kind recap of the party.

Twenty of DC’s most chic, high end boutiques slashed prices and shoppers aren’t the only ones to benefit.

The charity sale was founded by Mary Amons and this time helps the CityDance Early Arts, bringing free dance classes to children all over our area.

OMG helped Paramount Pictures host a special screening of new comedy “She’s Out of My League“. The film’s leading ladies Krysten Ritter (Confessions of a Shopaholic) and London beauty Alice Eve (Sex and the City 2) snuck in to the AMC Georgetown theater at the end. My pal Kevin McCarthy aka BDK on WJFK hosted a Q&A with the ladies and audience where we discoverd PATE’ was used for this  scene:
