Her first dance

This was such a great decision. Adora is two and I decided to put her in ballet class. Her girlfriends are doing it so I figured it would be a nice way for them to get together weekly. The class flew by because it’s so interactive. Adora loved getting fairy dust on her fingers and toes (glitter) and for the first time I saw her actually pay attention and take direction. The girls get to dress up in costumes every class.. today they were bunnies. Truly it was an enjoyable time and we can’t wait til the next one.

Man in Halloween Mask Robs McLean Bank

This spooks me out a bit.. considering it’s close to home. Around 10 this morning a man wearing a Halloween mask robbed the Main Street Bank on Old Dominion Drive in downtown McLean. This according to the McLean Patch. Fairfax County police report no one was hurt but the not so kindly spirited thief made off with an undisclosed amount of money. Join Me: Pumpkin Carving Class

Don’t worry.. that pumpkin shortage we’ve been hearing about is not going to stop us from carving some jack-o-laterns. Hope you can join me for a fun Pumpkin Carving Class at WILDFIRE in Tysons Galleria. You just have to RSVP. It’s $20 per adult and up to two kiddos. I plan to bring my little munchkin perhaps dressed up for Halloween. All participants will take home their creations along with a goody bag. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Food for Others the largest distributor of free food directly to people in need in Northern Virginia.

Floss

Um ok I’m lying. I hate to floss.. and I’m married to a dentist so imagine how those night time conversations go. However, I love finding new ways to motivate me to do things that are good for me. I am thrilled to see friend and local cosmetic dentist Dr. Alex Naini join Dr. Oz’s panel of experts. Her first piece answers the question “Do I really need to floss?”  What I love about her advice is that it is the real deal. Like when she shares most people think they brush twice daily, their teeth are clean and they have fresh breath. Dr. Alex says “People usually don’t realize that their breath stinks and a lot of times their loved ones are too nice to tell them the truth.”

Tory Burch is open!

Tory Burch’s first DC store has it’s signature orange lacquer towering doors wide open at Tysons Galleria. We stopped by the soft opening for the boutique that boasts her signature snow leopard chairs and graphic print curtains.  The shop carries a wide variety of the designer’s collection including shoes and handbags in addition to clothes. In it’s opening days guests also enjoyed complimentary spirits and sugar cookies imprinted with Burch’s famous T logo. A grand opening is schedule for September. Tickled Pink: Mom & Daughter Fashion Show

Life, Lilly and the Pursuit of Happiness! You could feel the Palm Beach brand’s motto a million times over at Tickled Pink 8… an annual mother-daughter tea held at the Fairmont Hotel on M Street. Biscuits, scones, egg and salmon sandwiches and unlimited mimosas were on hand. We took part in the Lilly fashion show wearing prints provided by The Pink Palm.

Other news mommies who walked the colorful catwalk included 9NEWS’ Lesli Foster and daughter Jordan and NBC4′s Eun Yang and little Carys.  It was Adora’s first fashion show.. and she proved modeling is tough work. Sweet “Georgetowner”

The weekly Georgetowner newspaper has a Mother’s Day edition and we’re thrilled to be a part of it.

What a fantastic shoot we had with Philip Berningham in his McLean studio. (right)

harth Opening: Hot Eats, Cool Show

The storms couldn’t put a damper on the red hot grand opening of harth, the new signature restaurant at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner. We were greeted by fire breathers and dancers. The red carpet came out for the celebration that drew hundreds of hungry Washingtonians. Guests enjoyed a sampling of what harth has to offer- food that supports local farmers! LOVIN THAT! One of my faves: Cheddar and Chives Popovers made with poached eggs, sundried tomato hollandaise and bacon jam. Loved the contrast of wood fire burning ovens and dripping ice bars in the lobby. SAKS presented an eye-pleasing show with this summer’s most stylish bikinis and big hats. The cool finale– two ice carvers jammin’ out while creating a sculpture for the audience. Loved having my sister Tricia who is visiting from Texas join me. She was a great help with Adora while I shot video.

Tory Burch to open at Tysons Galleria

Tory Burch is coming to Tysons! It’s opening it’s 51st boutique in McLean, Virginia at Tysons Galleria. The 2600-square-foot boutique is the company’s first in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area and is scheduled to open in May 2011. The entire Tory Burch collection will be available, including ready-to-wear, shoes, handbags, eyewear, jewelry and small leather goods.

BREAKING NAAN!

Forget breaking news.. we’re breaking naan! What a grand time was had by a gaggle of Channel 9ers at Bombay Tandoor.Afternoon traffic maven MonikaSamtani hosted the hungry news team to a fantastic brunch at her family’s restaurant in McLean.The authentic Indian food and fanfare had us all saying holy sweet samosas in the end.
