ArtJamz.. we paint on Live TV

I can tell from Chuck's face he really likes it

ArtJamz founder Michael Clements joins me in studio to help me unleash my inner artist. The end result? An original Van Goff. Not sure if I entertained or offended my co-workers who served as my inspiration.

ArtJamz has a series of sessions in March coming up, hosted in their new studio home in Dupont Circle.

Wounded warriors hit the links

It’s one of my favorite events of the year: The Yellow Ribbon Fund Army-Navy Golf Classic. This year General Stanley McChrystal was the guest of honor. Once again we had the chance to meet some amazing heroes at the tourney that pairs injured service members with supporters on the greens.

Golfers this year raised more than $217,000 for the Yellow Ribbon Fund. YRF supports injured servicemembers in the area and their families.  I was honored to co-host the awards ceremony with This Week in Defense host Vago Muradian. Photos by Michael Clements. Tune in to WUSA9’s Morning Show Wednesday to see coverage from the great day!

Young & The Guest List Gets “Creative”

“Creative Inspiration” was the theme this year for the one party set aside to celebrate the Nation Capital’s top movers ‘n’ shakers under the age of 40.

WUSA9: YGL 2011 Party

Held at the Long View Gallery and Rogue 24 guests enjoyed a beautiful event presented by Andre’ Wells that even featured a Juicy Couture fashion lounge.

Washington Life magazine presents the list every year.

This is the 6th year for the party.

ArtJamz: Inspiration ranges from personal to public

The great artist Pablo Picasso once said… “‘I paint objects as I think them, not as I seem them.'”

Unleashing all that’s inside is the idea behind a series of painting parties in the District. Professional and novice artists were invited to get creative at ArtJamz at the Lamont Bishop Gallery in DC’s Shaw corridor.

One artist says she painted her zodiac with her birthday coming up… another showed us her painting of Japan.

Lincoln: A President who's Poppin'

By Leigh Macdonald

Tomorrow evening, I’m hitting one of the hottest new night-out scenes in D.C.

Meet ArtJamz: an uncommonly creative concept by Michael M. Clements, Executive Editor of Washington Life Magazine. Last June, Clements launched ArtJamz, the first for-profit production of Genki Media LLC. Genki is a combination of the Japanese characters “Gen” and “Ki,” and it means “happy and healthy condition.” Well . . . by all accounts, it seems that Clements—through his wildly popular ArtJamz series—is indeed making meaningful strides toward the happy and healthy condition of Washingtonians.

What is ArtJamz? It’s open to anyone, online registration is easy, and ArtJammers needn’t bring a thing since Clements provides all needed materials. Indeed, upon arrival, you’ll receive a canvas (already set up on an easel, of course), paint, and materials. For the next few hours, you’ll enjoy wine, soft drinks, hors d’oeuvres, great music, and an artsy ArtJamz host. All the while, you and your fellow ArtJammers will be creating your very own original works of art. “Whoa!” you say, “I’m not an artist.” Not to worry . . . the ArtJamz sessions bring out the creative juices in even the most uncreative souls.

This weekend, ArtJamz is hosting its Lincoln Sessions. The Lincoln Sessions will take place on the 10th, 11th and 12th and will give ArtJammers a sneak peek at the highly anticipated opening of Lincoln Restaurant. Lincoln is owned and operated by Hudson Restaurant owner Alan Popovsky, and the destination will feature pop art from local artist, Maggie O’Neill.

At each of the three Lincoln Sessions, Maggie will paint alongside ArtJammers. February 10th is an invite-only affair aimed to bring in a who’s who of creative District influencers. The 11th and 12th sessions are open to anyone. By the way, Feb 12 is Abe Lincoln’s birthday, and I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate honest Abe than with ArtJamz at the city’s newest and most creative restaurant concept.

WUSA Personality Weds, Y&GL Party, Gourmet Gala

A few great stories I ran on the WUSA9 Morning Show Today!

We’re sending our biggest congrats to St. Thomas… where WUSA9 correspondent Lindsey Mastis and Digital Media Director Patrick O’brien are honeymooning after getting hitched in St. Louis over the weekend!

We also have a recap of the Young & the Guest List Party at the Washington Club, courtesy Washington Life TV. The theme this year: The Return to Glamour

And from my army of community reporters Nate Brown has more on the March of Dimes Gourmet Gala where Congressmen cooked for celebrity chefs for charity, raising more than $850,000!

Oh Snap! The Young & the Guest List

It was rumored to never happen but we’re glad it did. The party to celebrate 250 of DC’s most influential movers ‘n’ shakers under 40.

Upon entering the stunning Washington Club at Dupont (with hot date wusa9’s Lauren Vance) we took our pics against the wall with the wonderful Joseph Allen and Alfredo Flores and were soon ushered into the next room for check-in. That’s where we exchanged double kisses with list-mates Paul Wharton looking fab hair pulled back & the Corcoran’s Rachel Cothran beautiful in a romantic sheath. We also were greeted by  Washington Life publisher John Arundel who told us about the magnificent venue.. a mansion built at the turn of the century by Chicago Tribune Editor Robert Patterson.  Extraordinary I think!  The mansion provided a warm air for the young on the guest list and then some. Among great history walked wonderful fashion and conversation. Events by Andre Wells superbly kept the rich feel of an ages-old establishment while adding touches of modern flair with bright flowers and strategically placed candles. The Asian fusion spread added a cultural taste and the swagalicious gift bags by Moki Media filled with everything from a Badgley Mischka parfum bottle to earrings by Karen Millen and Queen Bee were exciting to open.

All in all I’d have to say making the list is pretty neat— but after this night I think most would agree making the party is even better 😉
