Cool mommas hop the Rockin’ Railroad

Choo Choo! The train of fun was a chuggin’ at Kidville’s Rockin’ Railroad Family Day held in Bethesda. It was so wonderful to see other moms, dads and their kiddos of all ages come out. We got to run around in the playroom, enjoy cupcakes and watch and dance through a session of Kidville’s new Rockin’ Railroad class. I was clearly the head of the class… up front and center the whole time. Some photos by Danielle Sara Photography

Lights, Camera, Annebeth!

Tune in Tuesday July 19th to see Annebeth Heller help me out as a guest traffic reporter on the Morning Show! Annebeth pronounced Anna-beth is an upcoming 5th grader at Holton Arms School.

Not only did Annebeth master Washington traffic she helped our Howard Bernstein deliver the weather report. We even had her wrap up the show at the end with the team.  Following the show Annebeth kicked it on the radio with Kirk McEwen and Mike O’Meara.  All agreed she’s ready for the big lights! GO PANTHERS!

Wounded warriors hit the links

It’s one of my favorite events of the year: The Yellow Ribbon Fund Army-Navy Golf Classic. This year General Stanley McChrystal was the guest of honor. Once again we had the chance to meet some amazing heroes at the tourney that pairs injured service members with supporters on the greens.

Golfers this year raised more than $217,000 for the Yellow Ribbon Fund. YRF supports injured servicemembers in the area and their families.  I was honored to co-host the awards ceremony with This Week in Defense host Vago Muradian. Photos by Michael Clements. Tune in to WUSA9’s Morning Show Wednesday to see coverage from the great day!

Crawfish Boil in Dupont

Suck the head, pinch the tails! Ok.. so I didn’t do that first part.. but I sure did enjoy cracking some mud bugs at the Crawfish Boil. Hosted by “The Cajun Experience” in Dupont, the party was fully dressed with the sounds of Lousiana and a menu made to please. I tried the Poboy sandwichs and gator bites which taste like chicken. I wasn’t bold enough to do the frog legs though. We saw Louisiana Senator David Vitter with his family.. not only dining but also dancing to the New Orleans band Zachary Smith and the Dixie Power Trio. Photo Credit: Dave Phillipich

Kirk, Mike, Jack… we crash DC radio

What a morning! After we wrapped the show we decided to drop in on our favorite radio buds in town. First stop was at 105.9 The Edge where we squeezed into a sweltering studio for the hilarious Kirk & Mike Show. From calling out Howard Bernstien’s “pancake face” to teasing a mud wrestling match between Andrea and me when they return… the boys had us rolling. Tune in to 9NEWS’ Morning Show Friday for video evidence of our visit.

Pink Painted bikini and big hearts Race for the Cure

The sun was shining and the pink was popping at the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in DC. There were so many inspirational stories. While hosting the pre-show I met awesome people like a guy who painted a pink bikini on him in name of his grandmother who has breast cancer. Andrea Roane shined as the Mistress of Ceremonies and the WUSA9 booth in Komen Village created a mob fest! So much fun! Thank you to all who came out!
