Color Rules Ball on the Mall

Gorgeous gowns with pops of color graced the grounds of the National Mall.  The L’Enfant Society hosted  ‘Ball on the Mall’ to support Trust for the National Mall. More than 1,000 guests gathered for this incredible party.

The night also honored the country and culture of Japan in launching the year-long centennial celebration of the Cherry Blossom trees and the Trust’s efforts to fund the Cherry Tree Endowment. The Trust donated 10% of all funds from the Ball’s silent auction to the Red Cross’ relief efforts for those affected by the recent earthquake and Tsunami.

Ambassador Atticus for Arthritis

You heard me right. My beloved crooked-tail lab represented canines across the metro at the big 2010 Arthritis Walk on the Mall.

Atticus was this year’s pet ambassador for the Doggy Arthritis Walk. Last year our vet found initial signs of arthritis in his elbow. Since then we’ve taken steps by giving him a joint pill everyday and monitoring his weight with dog diet food. Shout out to little Goff, Jenny Kim for taking Atticus to the walk since I was out of town. I heard he met a DFF .. another precious yellow lab named Oliver! Congrats to all the walkers who helped raise more than $100,000 for arthritis research! Tune in Tuesday to WUSA9 TV’s Morning Show for an event recap!

PROJECT: ARBOR DAY

This is an OMG favorite this week. I’m so excited to emcee this event and hope you too will join me for Project Arbor Day.  Ten local artists including my friend and extraordinary sculptor Don Patron have united to do cherry blossom artwork to raise funds to restore and revitalize the damaged trees on the National Mall.  All proceeds from this event benefit The Trust for the National Mall: http://nationalmall.org.

1000+To Do Yoga on National Mall in DC

If you follow me on Foursquare you saw that I checked-in at Down Dog Yoga for the first time this week.  The room heated at 90 degrees for the full hour had me sweating bullets midway. It’s been a couple days and it still hurts (in a good way) to raise my arms above my head 🙂 Whether you’re a beginner, pro or never have tried it lululemon is hosting a FREE yoga class on the NATIONAL MALL. It’s to celebrate the Cherry Blossoms and beautiful weather. Famous yogis like Kaitlin Quistgaard, editor of Yoga Journal and this month’s cover model Faith Hunter will be there!
