AAJA 2013

It’s the time of year I look forward to always– AAJA or the Asian American Journalist Association conference. This year it was in the Big Apple. A quick train up to the city and I was reunited with some of my great friends in the industry! I also had the chance to attend some very informative panels. It’s a great place to network and learn new ways to make your work better.

With Betty NguyenPanel on covering Asian American issues and immigration- standing room!

Wedding dress shopping

We were SO excited to go with our bride-to-be Heather Brown wedding gown shopping!  She found one she really liked and we did too. Picture? Of course we’re not gonna show you. All I can say is that she looked beautiful. While at the boutique some really pretty sashes caught our eyes. I also found a great look for any future M.O.B. Following some gown gazing… a revisit to our good ole’ days together down South. The BBQ Fest was going on at Madison Square Park.. and despite the rain the scene wasn’t anything less than porkfection.

From Russia… with POP!

Pop artist SASHA stuns a crowd of more than 1,000 at A-list celebrity photographer Mike Ruiz’s birthday celebration! I’ve been a big fan of the artist since a mutual friend introduced us in February.

Not only is she talented and beautiful– she has a great heart and is so down to Earth.

ROARKE new york: Soft Jewelry Social in DC

It’s all the rage
this is my favorite

Unbelievable fabric necklaces and beaded chiffon jewelry were on display at the ROARKE new york trunk show hosted by our pals Katherine Kennedy, Chelsea Maughan along with Ashley Branca and Laura Heffelfinger. Designer Laetitia Standfield mingled with guests in the intimate basement of Napoleon Bistro in Adams Morgan.  DC got an up close glimpse at the trendy bib/scarf necklaces that were recently featured in ELLE, Vogue  an on stars like Rachel Ray.

We sent OMG’s Erica Moody to Bethesda Row to cover The Front Row fashion event where Virginia native turned New York socialite Tinsley Mortimer appeared.

Tinsley (star of the CW’s High Society) showed us her kicks admitted she had NO IDEA how high her stilettos were.

She also dished about DC fashion and why she decided to return to the area. More to air on the WUSA9 Morning Show Wednesday!

Tinsely: “I just get the tall girl feeling!”

During NY Fashion Week I had the pleasure of hanging out with who could be the next big thing for pop. Her name is Sasha, she’s a bombshell from Russia and I thin she is just spectacular.

Flippin' FREE Tuesday: IHOP Pancakes

Free Pancakes Feb 23, 2010

Let me butter you up with a free short stack this Tuesday from IHOP.  It’s part of the  National Pancake Day Celebration to Benefit Children’s Miracle Network and other local charities. This year IHOP hopes to stack up more donations for the kids with a fundraising goal of $1.75 million.  To find the participating places between 7AM-5PM near you visit www.ihoppancakeday.com

Since we’re on the topic of breakfast food check out this grub from Felix in Soho. Giovanna orderd the french toast with fresh fruit… while I went with poached eggs and a northern fave- fries with salad. Side note: I couldn’t help but notice all the servers were good looking men, the bartender the stand alone woman. Needless to say, nothing for us ladies to complain about 😉
