Getting the scoop with the Girl Scouts!

More than a thousand girl scouts from our area headed to the Newseum for Girl Scouts Get the Scoop! It’s a huge event where the gals have a chance to spend the day learning about news and media. I was asked to sit on a panel along with other great women in our profession including Danielle Ivory, Debbi Jarvis, Angela Keane and Andrea Stone! We took questions from the girls and their parents. It was really a neat experience… and you can see below there were perks!

Robert Redford premieres 'The Conspirator' in DC

Robert Redford is still a hunk! It was great to see him premiere his new film he directed ‘The Conspirator’ here at the historic Ford’s Theatre.  The film that centers around the men and one woman arrested for the conspiracy surrounding President Lincoln’s murder stars Robin Wright Penn as Mary Surratt. DC Gets Uncorked!

The district was home to two major wine-tasting events this weekend. Newseum was packed inside and out, with guests enjoying wines from around the world, as well a picture-perfect evening overlooking the Capitol building. Meanwhile, the French Embassy hosted a wine-tasting and dance party that attracted several hundred fun seekers.

Among those present were ‘Onix‘ Wil Lash from ‘I Love New York’ and Richard Counts, Chairman of the DC Young Republicans. By  Leigh Macdonald

BYT takes over Newseum for all access holiday party

Brightest Young Things kicked off the holiday season with a bang! Approximately 3,000 gathered for a party to start all parties…‘All Access: A Night at the Newseum.‘ Some highlights of the night included a cash bar with specialty cocktails and holiday treats, photo booths with take-away prints, and a silent disco room with DJ Smudge (you wear headphones to hear the DJ’s music). Party-goers also had access to Newseum exhibits including the Berlin Wall exhibit, Pulitzer Prize Photojournalism gallery, and the Interactive Newsroom Center

James Cameron Inspires Creative Students

WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA)–  Imagination Cup: In local buzz, a big Hollywood name inspires big brain students. Oscar winning director James Cameron spoke at Microsoft’s Imagine Cup held at the Newseum. Hundreds showed up from science colleges and high schools worldwide for the innovation competition. UC Davis with their project to help field doctors use mobile tech in developing regions won this year!
