Helping the innocent

In my job I have seen some pretty unbelievable things. Many of them involve children. Physical, mental and sexual abuse is happening in homes all around us. It’s hard to think about but for the innocent children it cannot be ignored. When I learned about Safe Spot and how it provides a safe haven for young victims in Fairfax County I knew it was a group I had to support. They are so passionate about helping these victims. In my eyes, they are real heroes. I was honored to emcee their annual Passion for Fashion charity fashion show at Bloomingdale’s at Tysons Corner. Safe Spot is always looking for people to join their mission. Get more information here at (Photos by Jan Miller)

Freezing in April.. can you tell!

No Tears!

Bob’s first official Easter Bunny photo and no tears from him or big sister.
In fact.. I think she thinks people were there to take pictures with her.

The Golden Egg

One of our family’s favorite holidays is Easter.  We got the kids together for some old fashion Easter photos. We’ll see how they do when they meet Mr. Easter Bunny!  Adora is 3… and no longer scared of Santa so this gives me hope.

His first pictures

What amazes me most about newborns is how quickly just about everything changes in a matter of days. Anyone who is a parent will often say they forgot just how small their child once was. It’s the reason that despite being in pain, recovery, totally stressed and everything above I have forced myself to find 20 minutes in the first few days  to try to capture these details before they’re gone. I did it with Adora and now with Bob. You can see the soft hair that covers the baby’s body.. it’ll eventually disappear. This was after the first few days so Bob’s skin lightened up and started to flake. It still turns the bright pink he was the first day.. only when he cries. His lips, hands and feet actually turn blue if he gets cold. The wrinkles and folds are never ending. It’s amazing. Thanks to my friend Janette Kim for taking these photos.

She walked in halfway through our picture taking

Still coming to grips.. this changes everything

She didn’t say anything.. she just held him  gently and stared.

We’re having a…

It was with amazing discipline that I decided not to find  out if I was having a boy or girl at my 20 week sonogram. Instead I had the technician put the answer in an envelope.

I brought it home and handed it to my sister Jenny who ecstatically ripped it open in front of me. She was the first to know.

We waited days until our close family could all be together. Jenny in the meantime set up a very cute “Reveal!”  A 20 week secret all wrapped up.

On the big day, Jenny enlisted the help of future big sister, Adora Kate.

And just like that.. the name lives on. We’re ready to welcome a IV to the fam! Can you be tickled blue? We’re so happy!

In true Goff fashion.. Jenny topped “the reveal” with some humor. We arrived to a celebratory lunch to find all this!

Thanks sister.. love you.

2012 Christmas Card Photos

I am thrilled with how our Christmas photos turned out this year. My friend Joey Darley met us out in historic Leesburg to play in the leaves. We were hoping to capture just one great moment we could use for a card.. instead he made my life difficult because he got so many amazing shots of Adora. We even invited cousin Knox to come play. If you’re interested in having Joey shoot your family photos visit his website! Oh and before you ask ladies… Adora’s head wreath is by Sparkle & Posy.

This one made the cut!

Mother-Daughter Portrait

We had a fabulous time shooting our first formal mother-daughter portrait with Philip Bermingham in his McLean studio.

Can’t wait to see how they turn out.
