Easy Pumpkin Decorating!

We carved our first pumpkin for the season and it was simple! Adora is 5 so poking the pattern in the pumpkin was a perfect task for her. Digging out the guts took a little nudging but she did it. Bob even got an arm in that too but honestly spent most of his time trying to pick up the other pumpkins all around us.  For those who don’t wanna cut in and get messy I found some fun ways to decorate smaller pumpkins like mummies, witches and owls for $5. Carving Pumpkins

It’s hard to think about getting into the Halloween spirit as many of us continue to clean up from Sandy. Before the storm hit.. we had the chance to partake in what’s becoming a family tradition– pumpkin carving. We were excited to once again host a special family event at Wildfire in Tysons Galleria. Part of the proceeds went to wonderful local charity Food for Others. Hope everyone has a happy Halloween!

Time to mark this thing up!

Come carve with me!

OMG my little pumpkin has grown so much since last year!

Adora and I are excited to host another pumpkin carving event at Wildfire at Tysons Galleria. Join us on Saturday October 27th from 3-4pm!
Parents and children will enjoy a hands-on pumpkin carving session led by Wildfire Executive Chef Eddie Ishaq and NBC4Weekend Anchor Angie Goff. All participants will take home their creations along with a goody bag. Oh and get this.. the pumpkins are pre-gutted.. so no big mess here mommies!

The event is priced at $15 per child, plus tax and gratuity. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Food for Others (www.foodforothers.org), the largest distributor of free food directly to people in need in Northern Virginia.

Pumpkin Carving Class

Today we hosted a pumpkin carving class at Wildfire Restaurant at Tysons Galleria. It was super fun… and some even came in costumes. There were kids there of all ages… ranging from 10 months (Adora!) to tweens. Executive Chef Eddie Ishaq let everyone pick out their pumpkin… within a matter of minutes everyone was carving away. It was really easy for rookies like me (I use to paint the outside of the pumpkin). There was a variety of stencils to choose from… I decided on the spooky ghost. Oh the best part? Lotsa lotsa Halloween candy  and roasted pumpkin seeds were center pieces on each table! For future kid classes visit Wildfire online.

Don’t worry.. that pumpkin shortage we’ve been hearing about is not going to stop us from carving some jack-o-laterns. Hope you can join me for a fun Pumpkin Carving Class at WILDFIRE in Tysons Galleria. You just have to RSVP. It’s $20 per adult and up to two kiddos. I plan to bring my little munchkin perhaps dressed up for Halloween. All participants will take home their creations along with a goody bag.
