Bob & Ava Meet their Extended News Family

Big thanks to dear friends Rebecca Cooper and Jill Collins for throwing the best Sip ‘n’ See at Carmine’s for Bob and Alison Starling’s little Ava. It was a wonderful way to get the babies together (which you can tell Ava is already crushin’) and show them off to all our great friends in the business! Nerd Prom Weekend Recap

8 parties and who knows how many dresses (and 1 jumper!) White House Correspondents Dinner weekend is over. I’m so glad this only happens once a year. It is exciting and utterly exhausting all at the same time. Here’s a sampling of where we were.. who we saw and how much fun it was seeing the world of politics and Hollywood collide.

We kicked things off Thursday night at the Ritz-Carlton Washington DC for a private dinner hosted by The Creative Coalition, Elle Magazine and Lanmark Technologies .The awesome Alex Wagner of MSNBC and Norah O’Donnell from CBS were honored as leading women in media. Thank you to April Firoozabadi for the wonderful fashion styling for the weekend!  (Photos by Allison Priebe Brooks, Pamela Sorensen, Paul Moretti)

Friday night it was tres’ party time. First stop the Turkish Embassy for The Hill party. Then it was off to the W Hotel for the very fun Google/Hollywood Reporter bash. The night ended on L street for the Funny or Die 1st Amendment Party where Charlize showed up.

Saturday after anchoring the morning shows I met my girlfriend Pamela Brown at the WHCD brunch hosted by Tammy Haddad. It was a bit chilly… but still a great time. Lilo was there with her lawyer and Kris Jenner. We also spotted Woody Harrelson who I loved in the Hunger Games and Game Change.

Saturday night we stopped by Capitol File’s party at the Newseum. Spotted were NBC’s Matt Glassman, Eun Yang and Doug Kammerer. We then finished the night at MSNBC’s party at the Italian Embassy.

From the Vanity Fair party.. one of the cutest couples ever! Mark and Kelly!

And finally “the day after” arrived! I still had to do the shows Sunday morning. David Gregory joined us on set and said he too was feeling a little tired after a long night. It was good to know I was not alone in having to work the next day. After the show it was off to the Hay-Adams. John McLaughlin was hosting his famous Sunday brunch on the roof. The view was great as were the eggs benedict!

Media Family Style

Some of my greatest friends are in DC media. It was awesome to get together with a few of them to celebrate my new job. We may work at different outlets but we all love food and lots of it. We gathered at Carmine’s for a family style lunch that included a dessert bigger than Rebecca Cooper’s 3 kids (see photo). It was great to have some of my new co-workers John Schriffen and Rick Yarborough join us too!  More photos by our dear friend Daniel Swartz at

Remembering Mamie

Former CNN reporter Elizabeth Manresa and her husband Teddy Eynon hosted Monaco Nights to benefit Mamie’s Mile. 10% of the night’s sales at Bloomingdale’s Chevy Chase went to the organization that helps Childrens Hospital. Mamie’s Mile honors the memory of Elizabeth and Teddy’s beautiful daughter Mamie Grace. Mamie passed away at only 4 months following a brave fight and complications from heart surgery.

Capitol CAREaoke: CNN, FNC, WUSA Sing Hearts Out

Topp-I-Am also better known as WUSA’s weatherman Topper Shutt helped our newsteam to victory at the 30th Anniversary of ChildHelp’s Capitol CAREaoke. Held at the Ronald Reagan building the event raised thousands to end child abuse… thanks to some very brave media personalities. Check out this awesome video shot by WUSA contributor Leigh Macdonald. It includes Teddy Eynon who had the courage to share his heartbreaking story of surviving abuse as a child.
