Come out and join me and Doug Kammerer for one of the BEST parades in town! Macy Parade style floats, dancers, street performers and Santa will all be there! Then get your photo with Santa and Mrs Claus after. Be sure to return to the square for the Tree Lighting.. I’m so happy to host again this year!

Home for the holidays

We saluted the US military this year with the Reston Town Center Holiday Parade! It was a grand celebration and Doug and I were so happy to be a part of it. The tree lighting was magical as always!

Reston Holiday Parade & Tree Lighting

I am so excited to be part of one of my favorite holiday events of the season. On Black Friday November 29th at the Reston Town Center the wonderful Holiday Parade kicks off at 11AM. Macy’s-style balloons, musicians and marching bands, dancers, antique cars, community groups, and more make up this one-of-a-kind, one-hour procession welcoming the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus for the season. This year’s theme is “Destination: Reston“.

Then at 6PM is the annual Christmas Tree lighting. Santa and Mrs. Claus roll in to light to tree. I’m honored to emcee this years lighting. My colleague Doug Kammerer will be on site doing his weather reports live for NBC Washington too!

Bundle up and join us for an unforgettable way to start off this holiday season! If you’re out there.. say hi!

Wonderful floats!

Mr. Knick Knack

Hey parents.. if you’re looking for something great to do with the kids.. the famous Mr. Knick Knack is back at Reston Town Center on Mondays at 10:30AM. It’s the perfect place to catch up with your mom friends while your kiddos dance the morning away!

Hey VA! LIVE from Reston

What a beautiful February day. The weather was perfect, in the high 60’s. We went jacketless and loved seeing all the stores and coffee shops keep their doors wide open for customers. Another special treat.. my colleague Doug Kammerer decided to do his weather LIVE from Reston Town Center for all the news shows.

We popped by and Adora got a little air time and showed she clearly has a taste for broadcasting! Doug also mentioned how this is hometown turf for us. We both proudly attended Herndon High School. Doreen and Jim couldn’t help but take a jab at him. Check it out below!

Herndon Band Surprises Shoppers

Go Hornets! As a proud graduate of Herndon High School I loved seeing 94.7 FRESH FM’s Tommy McFly and the TOMMY SHOW team up with THE PRIDE OF HERNDON MARCHING BAND to surprise shoppers, ice skaters, and holiday bystanders at Reston Town Center for a Random Act of Christmas.

Over 100 Christmas presents were given to the crowd during this pop-up concert. Check out the video to see the crowd’s reaction, received as a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping. Watch the video here

Mom who makes Noms

Nikki's white cake with chocolate chip cookie dough filling for baby's 6 month old birthday

I love seeing women start their own businesses. I have the utmost admiration for moms, especially new ones who venture into this world. Meet my neighbor and girlfriend Nikki Hill. She just had a baby like an hour ago and also around the same time decided to start Noms by Nikki. What’s a nom you ask? According to Nik it’s an onomatopoeic adjective based on the sound emitted when something is “oh so tasty.” I can attest her noms live up to it’s definition.

See exhibit A & B below- the chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream icing she made me. It was gone in 1.5 days.

You can see from her creations she can do just about anything: cake pops, chocolates, cakes, brownies, cookies, you name it.

BRB: Neighbor with a big bite

Okay if you’re gonna break your diet.. and you’re doing it with burgers you must go big or don’t go at all.

Yes that’s my table at the new BRB burger joint in Reston Town Center. BRB which stands for Be Right Burger opened up right next to the ice skating rank.

FREE BURGER: Check in w/ Foursquare

DEALS: Join BRB on Facebook

It’s really a cool concept. There are touch screens for you to place your order and pay for it while you’re waiting in line. The signature items run the hunger gamut.. from the Samurai Turkey Burger, to the Shroomin Burger, the Lobster Roll and the monster Hangover (see below). What I love is that the meat is all-natural, hormone and antibiotic free Angus beef from a local Maryland farm.

Adora who has just started to eat solids took a liking to the kid french fries- cut out like smiley faces! Sauces were amazing too– my fave was the wasabi mayo which is what I dipped my fries in. Oh the best part. Thursday through Friday BRB is open until 3AM! BRB is located at 1820 Discovery Street at the Reston Town Center.

For the fathers

I hope all the dads out there enjoy this Sunday set aside just for them! It’s extra special for us since we’ll be celebrating our first Father’s Day.

… and a very big thank you to dad and papa for loving us so much.
