Shore is nice

More than 500 people showed up for the opening reception of Chef Jeff Black’s Pearl Dive Oyster Palace. The group raised more than $25,000 which will go towards making a special teaching kitchen. The kitchen will be at the Washington Nationals Diabetes Care Complex at Children’s Medical Center. The new restaurant dishes out an average of 4,200 oysters a night! PS… did I mention they have a bocce court in the seafood house.  More photos by Andrew Lightman.

Sen. Vitter, wife break it down at Crawfish Boil

Louisiana Senator David Vitter, wife Wendy and family dined and danced at the Crawfish Boil at ‘The Cajun Experience’ in Dupont.

Crawfish Boil in Dupont

Suck the head, pinch the tails! Ok.. so I didn’t do that first part.. but I sure did enjoy cracking some mud bugs at the Crawfish Boil. Hosted by “The Cajun Experience” in Dupont, the party was fully dressed with the sounds of Lousiana and a menu made to please. I tried the Poboy sandwichs and gator bites which taste like chicken. I wasn’t bold enough to do the frog legs though. We saw Louisiana Senator David Vitter with his family.. not only dining but also dancing to the New Orleans band Zachary Smith and the Dixie Power Trio. Photo Credit: Dave Phillipich

What we're diggin at DC Restaurant Week

DC’s Restaurant Week is right around the corner so what are you in the mood for?!? Check out Tricia Barba’s write up for WeLoveDC.com. She taps into the hungry minds of local media to see where they’ll be cashin’ in on great 3 course cuisines. My top picks... Chef Geoff’s, WILDFIRE, Bistro Bis and Bourbon Steak. I really wanna try Blacksalt– I hear their seafood is to die for.

There are more than 200 places participating this month.. check out the DC Restaurant Week list of deals here.  Don’t worry friends who never leave VA.. there are restaurants in Virginia and Maryland taking part with specials too.

The Claws Come Out!

I feel like Maryland crabs are hit or miss and it’s not a matter of how they taste but how much work goes into them.

Check out my Channel 9 report on the claws coming out big time at in Crisfield… the ‘Crab Capital of the World’
