“Sex and the City” Creator Rooftop Party

The mind behind the Manolos– Candace Bushnell was in town talking Carrie before we knew her. Bushnell, an author and NYC columnist who inspired the famed SATC series and movies is taking us back, way back. Her new book Summer and the City (The Carrie Diaries) is the prequel to SATC introducing us to the lives of the fab four when they were friends in high school.

Bushnell who I found to be both fun and spunky did a rooftop book signing for an invitation only party atop the Residences on The Avenue. Notable guests included NBC4’s Eun Yang, Pamela Sorensen, Meredith Fineman, Cupcake stars Sophie Lamontagne and Katherine Kallinis, ABC7’s Pamela Brown and Capitol File’s Kate Bennett.

At The Boathouse

Hello from NYC ! I’m here til next week. Central Park fans probably have been here… The Boathouse restaurant on the lake. I lunched with some of my good girlfriends at the spot made famous on the big/small screen. Remember when Mr. Big fell into the lake trying to kiss Carrie.. or when Sally (Meg Ryan) met the girls for lunch in When Harry Met Sally.

We didn’t see any stars… but caught the cutest scene. Kids enjoying a summer ride in a gondola. Oh,  New York.. this is why we love you.

BUMP or DUMP: Blue Velvet

Today my intern Rachel had to zip me up as I tried to squeeeeeze into one of my regular dresses.. maybe for the last time before ‘she’ is here! I threw a blue unbuttonable velvet blazer over it and added the long gold clover chain and breast cancer charm necklace for a little light metal.

Sex & The City 2 Screening, What DC Wore & Says

WATCH NOW: SATC2 Screening at AFI on WUSA9 TV

We came, we saw, we wore stilettos.. wedges.. platforms and even flashy flats!

Katherine Kennedy, Courtney Robinson, Amanda Polk and Nina Snow

There wasn’t an extra seat left in the historic AFI Silver Theatre for the official Warner Bros. & Moet-Chandon screening of Sex and the City 2.  Here’s what some of Washington’s top fashionistas had to say after the Champagne & Cinema night:
My favs were many of Samantha’s one liners (like “ohhh Charles of my Labia” instead of Charles of Arabia) – HAH! -Kristina Dorville, Government

I appreciated how they focused on what real women go through from being single, married, kids and menopause, lol. -Maggy Francois, Greater Washington Fashion Chamber of Commerce

I wish there was more flashbacks to their youth when they first arrived in NYC. It was a blast of a movie that sure didn’t disappoint but left me holding my breath for the trilogy.

Movie Times: Sex and the City 2

SATC is like seeing old friends again. Everyone smiles when their favorite comes on the screen. I was sort of disappointed that they took the ladies out of NYC. I always enjoyed finding out the new hot restaurants, night clubs, stores. -Amanda Polk, Philanthropist

I had such a great time with all of the girls and loved the Moet combo. -Courtney Robinson, ABC7 Reporter

I loved the flashbacks to them first arriving in new york and samantha getting kicked out of the country for making out on the beach was classic. -Lauren Pomponio, Muscle Milk

Loved: The dynamic about mothers was especially lovely to share with my mom and I felt like it helped me better understand how it must have been to raise me as a single parent
-Carissa Maguire, Event Planner

I liked some of the outfits and how the middle east was portrayed as modern and old, extravagant and over the top in some ways and simple and 3rd world in other ways…that is soooo true🙂  -Dr. Alex Naini, Aesthetic Dental Spa

Pros: Great fashion, Aidan is hot, loved Carries hair (but hated a couple of outfits where her boobs were bursting out. It looked a bit desperate). Cons: There was a TON of advertising -Jenny Goff, Teacher

I was expecting more fashion but loved when the middle eastern women de-robed w/ the spring collection of some known designers. -Christine Brooks-Cropper, GWFCC

I also like how they show that no ones life is perfect. If you are single, married, or have kids, there are always new challenges! -Keri Ann Meslar, Philanthropy/Events

What SJP Wore for the Big Premiere

Manolos move over.. there’s a new shoe shining in town.  Sarah Jessica Parker wore a pair of silver satin Ferragamo pumps with high heel and double platform to the worldwide premiere of the new film “Sex And The City 2“, held on Monday, May 24th at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

Just something to keep in mind for those wondering what to wear to DC’s SATC2  private screenings going on Wednesday.

One viewing will be at AFI Theater (I’ll be there along with a ‘Mr. Big’ so big he’s coming from the White House!!) and there’s another posh party with showing at AMC Georgetown which benefits Labels For Love.

Amongst the glitter OMG thinks SJP glows in NYC. Do you?

Sex and the City Cupcakes Come to DC

Local cupcakery, Hello Cupcake releases it’s sweet take on the highly anticipated sequel on Monday. Frosted cupcakes that dazzle and look like they’re wroth the $60 Million in estimated box office sales expected at the end of the month.

Indulge in the SATC inspired treats starting Monday May 17th until May 31st. The four custom cupcakes  represent each woman in the movie.  Which makes me ask.. if you could be a cupcake what flavor would you be?
