News gals don’t believe in portion control

A group of us DC news women got together for some major eating this week. It was a time to catch up and also start brainstorming about Newsbabes Bash IV. What better to give our brains a boost than some penne alla vodka and chicken parmiggiano at Carmine’s. We couldn’t forget dessert… when the Titanic comes a’sailin you let it pull into port and then pig out. Stay tuned for more on May’s Newsbabes Bash.. we’ve got some surprises in store!

The weather was perfect for an afternoon lunch with the news gals here in DC. This time we gathered at the new J&G Steakhouse on 15th and Pennsylvania. As we enjoyed appetizing fried calamari and rice cracker crusted tuna we laughed about being moms and the new “Go the ___ to Sleep” book that’s all the rave these days amongst parents. When it was entree’ time we were impressed to find out that the steakhouse is vegan friendly! A couple of the gals had no problem ordering. Halibut in a scallion-spicy chili sauce was a popular pick this day. I was also happy to see they have Sips & Bites from 5-7pm on weekdays where you can get smaller portions of their dishes paired with wine at the wine bar.

It was also great to chit chat with cityshopgirl turned radio host Kelly Collis who recently helped launch the new morning show on 94.7 FRESH FM. Shout out to Eun Yang for arranging the get together… really enjoyed catching up with all the girls at the table.. Anita Brikman, Lesli Foster, Elaine Reyes and Shawn Yancy!

DC Newsladies Dish at Lunch

Pamela Brown, Angie Goff, Lindsay Czarniak, Sue Palka

Contrary to competition belief… us news gals from different stations really do get along. So much so that we frequently meet for a girls lunch out. Today  the fab Colleen Evans invited us to the Westend Bistro in Georgetown. The menu was delightful and the white and purple cauliflower to die for. In the end it was the mini macaroons that stole my heart– and FOX5’s Laura Evans who stole the show. She JUST had a baby boy and still came out to show the love and LOOKED AMAZING! Congrats Laura!

So what do we talk about? Well, us morn gals moan and groan about our hours but then offer our condolences when the primaries like Lesli Foster, Anita Brikman and Shawn Yancy have to dip outta lunch early to prep for their show. Lindsay and I dished about the Olympics and Fashion Week… while we all gave our roundtable YES vote for Pamela Brown’s new hue for her do!

PS:  Chef Joe Palma is so down to earth and is all about having fun with his American fare! Westend Bistro is located in the Ritz-Carlton at 1190 22nd Street NW DC.

PSS: Get ready DC… the babes are already talking Newsbabes Bash for Breast Cancer #2! Stay tuned, details on the pink flair affair to come. Follow the latest from all of us on Twitter @DCnewsbabes
