McChrystal, Schieffer attend Yellow Ribbon Fund Gala

“The Yellow Ribbon Fund is a symbol of America helping each other because America is a family. So each of us reach out to people who we may not be directly related to, but we are as Americans. I think it brings out the best in us.”  – General Stanley McChrystal

Top Chefs serve-up culinary delights for hope

DC’s top chefs and bartenders did more than just satisfy hungry tummys…they served up hope for a great cause! Held at the DC Ritz Carlton, the 2010 Signature Chefs auction of DC featured more than 30 of Washington’s most prestigious chefs for an evening of culinary tastings, divine drinks, and live and silent auctions. Proceeds from the event go to the March of Dimes’ local programs – including Mama & Baby Bus and NICU Family Support.

Chef Geoff Tracy and his wife, MSNBC’s Norah O’Donnell signed copies of their new cookbook, ‘Baby Love: Healthy, Easy, Delicious Meals for your Baby and Toddler.’

Culinary tastings ranged from savory meat dishes, to vegetable soups, to mouth-watering chocolate dessert bars.

2010 March of Dimes National Ambassador Joshua Hoffman ate a specially-made grilled cheese sandwich before sharing his story with the crowd.

2010 Honorary Chef Ris Lacoste, executive chef and owner of Ris, served a flavorful salad at the event.

Live and silent auction items included unique dining packages, event tickets, hotel stays and weekend getaways.  Auctioneers went paperless, using BidPal to bid on auction items.

Redskin Star Andre Carter and his wife Bethany, along with former Redskin Derrick Frost came out to support the March of Dimes. Other notable guests included Chef Rock Harper of Hell’s Kitchen, Chef Carla Hall of Top Chef,  and saxophonist Ski Johnson.
