Oh what wonder!

One of my favorite TV shows growing up was The Wonder Years. I’m so excited to see that some of the memorabilia from the series will be featured in the Smithsonian. It arrives today and with good company. Fred Savage and cast will be there for the event! And that NY Jets jacket– of course it’s part of the display. My closest tie to the show– my sister who for all her teenage life was called Winne Cooper!

Showin’ the Leesburg Love

A typically remote Leesburg was bustling with excitement for their 10th Annual Business Awards, recognizing the town’s top businesses. Guests included Dr. Sheila Johnson co-founder of BET and partner in the Wizards, the Capitals and the Mystics.

The George C. Marshall Award, the town’s most coveted award went to the owner of Tuscarora Mill, South Street Under and Fireworks, Kevin Malone. On a personal note, I’m starting to get to know this historic town. My sister recently moved there so I’m spending a lot of time out on N. King Street. They have the cutest antique shops and now I’ve found a new great coffee spot called Shoes. It use to be an old shoe shop… you can feel the nostalgia the second you step in. My Imperfect Family

So my older sister Tricia who lives in Texas was visiting for the last couple weeks. We don’t see her often and never know when the next chance will be. With that,  we of course had to seize the opportunity for family photos that are absolutely unofficial and unprofessional in every way. God Bless the digital camera and it’s ability to reveal who we really are.

Um.. which one of you needed to go out?

Something does not belong

Frame-able At Last!

Sad how time flies…

but what beautiful new things it brings along the way

Gold Cup with Sisters

The weather was more than perfect.. and my company couldn’t get any better at Gold Cup. My two sisters Jenny and Tricia joined me in The Plains for the day. I enjoyed judging the hat contest and tailgates. From derby pie to mint julep jello shots… it was quite the tasty task. We watched a couple races and then headed to downtown Middleburg to get a bite at The French Hound.

A winner..what a shot!

Too young for the infield.. maybe next year baby 😉

Baby on way

No… not #2! Don’t even go there people. My friend Vi is having a baby very soon and we all got together to celebrate little Gavin. It was the cutest shower thrown by Vi’s sister Tien and friend Peachy in Stone Ridge Virginia. I loved the ‘Candy Bar’ and catching up with so many sorority sisters from George Mason. It’s so funny to see how far so many of us have come from frat house to housewife and mom.

Happy Birthday Sister

I love you sister.

Lil Goff turns.. well we’ll keep that to ourselves. In my eyes she’s still a baby. Happy Birthday Jenny. We love you and are so proud of all that you’ve accomplished Coach Goff. You are an inspiration.

At the birthday girl’s request the fam celebrated another big year with tacos at Guapo’s.

Tickled Pink in Potomac

I cannot even begin to tell you how overwhelmed with emotion I am with all the support I’ve gotten from friends, family and co-workers over the last 8 months. My sisters Jenny and Tricia threw me a beautiful shower at good friend Dr. Alex’s Potomac home.

It was more than perfect– it was as I told the crowd– a room filled with so much love. Wish I could post the hundreds of pictures and special moments captured by’s Daniel Swartz and Rita Lawrence with Bitsy Baby Photography. Please check out their galleries. Sweet thanks to Frosting: A Cupcakery for sending devilishly good dessert. No cupcake was left behind. Shout out to the gorgeous Lauren Von Der Pool and staff with green catering company Von Der Pool Gourmet.  I didn’t learn til after the party that the ‘beef wontons’ were vegan! I would’ve never known. They were delicious!

The best part of all? Seeing so many women from different phases of my life- high school, college, SC, DC, News, philanthropy and  mamas-to-be coming together to help me celebrate my first step into motherhood. Thank you everyone from me and baby “A”. Read more about the shower at where Leigh Macdonald wrote a very kind recap of the party.

Losing a loved one…

You may have noticed it’s been a few days I haven’t posted much. My nana fell seriously ill suddenly and the outlook did not look good. My father, my sisters and my entire extended family made the trip to Columbia, SC to see the woman who has been our family rock through decades of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty Goff was a heck of a lady and in her last days she appeared to be the happiest. From her hospital bed, barely able to talk she told us over an over that ‘we have a beautiful family’ and that she would ‘see us again.’ Together we laughed,  we cried and we prayed on our own and out loud. Even on her last day Nana was full of life.

We held a memorial which was a true celebration of everything she was. Instead of wearing black, we all wore pink… my Nana’s favorite color.  A color she loved so much she wore it on her wedding day. Nana passed away June 28th, 2010… two days shy of celebrating 53 years of being married to my wonderful Papa.

With my Papa, Earl Ray Goff. He is a veteran, a true patriot, a loving husband, father and grandpa!

The Goff family extended. We wore pink to honor our grandmother’s favorite color.

The day of Nana’s memorial I thought it was symbolic to see Columbia’s famed 5 points fountain shooting pink water.

She's 3!

Birthday shout out to my beautiful niece Caelyn Chin who turns 3 today! She’s grown so much over the last few years…
