Pink Jams: 14 Survivors Strut Their Stuff

There’s no show like it in DC! Honestly it was one of the most beautiful I’ve attended. Pink Jams hosted it’s annual Pink Fashion Rocks with the fabulous Christian Siriano headlining. Maggy Francois produced the show.

  Great Moments

Lickin' Cancer

Survivors brought their pets and I brought my 2 legged baby to the 2nd Annual Critters for the Cure Fashion Show! It was an amazing night where cancer survivors showed their beauty and bravery as they took to the catwalk with their canine companions. The highlight of the evening was when several area doctors were honored by CFC founder Clancy Kress. Kress created Critters for the Cure after losing a dear friend to cancer.

Tickled Pink in Potomac

I cannot even begin to tell you how overwhelmed with emotion I am with all the support I’ve gotten from friends, family and co-workers over the last 8 months. My sisters Jenny and Tricia threw me a beautiful shower at good friend Dr. Alex’s Potomac home.

It was more than perfect– it was as I told the crowd– a room filled with so much love. Wish I could post the hundreds of pictures and special moments captured by REVAMP.com’s Daniel Swartz and Rita Lawrence with Bitsy Baby Photography. Please check out their galleries. Sweet thanks to Frosting: A Cupcakery for sending devilishly good dessert. No cupcake was left behind. Shout out to the gorgeous Lauren Von Der Pool and staff with green catering company Von Der Pool Gourmet.  I didn’t learn til after the party that the ‘beef wontons’ were vegan! I would’ve never known. They were delicious!

The best part of all? Seeing so many women from different phases of my life- high school, college, SC, DC, News, philanthropy and  mamas-to-be coming together to help me celebrate my first step into motherhood. Thank you everyone from me and baby “A”. Read more about the shower at REVAMP.com where Leigh Macdonald wrote a very kind recap of the party.

Pink Masquerade & Prayers Needed

Founder Maimah Karmo and her Tigerlily Foundation hosted their Pink Masquerade 2010, in hopes of raising awareness of young women battling breast cancer. I would love if you could keep my friend Stef Woods (pictured right) in your prayers. She just started her round of chemo and we are wishing her strength with much love during this challenging journey.

Thank you to Maimah and her network for continuing to educate our public about how real this disease is and how it can touch anyone… no matter how old you are.

Alongside the salon services, customers bought raffle tickets, participated in a silent auction, and over cupcakes and cocktails. Salon manager Shannon Cusello said “It’s a little hectic, but hectic is good; it means there are more people coming to help out.”

With such great feedback and support, Fashion for Paws is already planning upcoming events to benefit the WHS. “Our goal is to raise $12,000 for the Washington Humane Society,” explained Fashion for Paws Executive Director Tara de Nicolas.  Can’t donate.. maybe you can adopt 😉
