Rack It Up Ladies!

I love this new local startup… and it’s a must bookmark for that serious shopper or anyone who likes to get clothes online! Rack It Up is a virtual closet website where users can collect their favorite items from their favorite online stores and RIU lets you know when anything in your closet goes on sale in your size!
How It Works: you shop on any other website, like nordstrom.com or saks.com and ‘rack up’ your favorite items in your closet. An item gets placed in your closet by using the ‘RackItUp’ button which your prompted to install when you create an account (similar to the ‘Pin It’ button on Pinterest). Just drag the button up into your bookmarks bar and the racking can begin.

When a user Racks an item they’re prompted to enter their personal size, color preference & can even enter when they’d like to receive a sale alert for that item- when it goes on sale in general or when it drops by a certain dollar amount or percentage that they can manually enter. As soon as any item in their closet goes on sale in their size & drops to the price they’re willing to pay, we email them a sale alert!! Also we have a feature called Browse the Rack, so users can go there and re-rack any item that catches their eye, enter their personal size and add it to their closet.
RIU is also a community so you can stalk your friends closets: re-rack items they have, love items & comment on items! Happy racking!

Full circle

It’s not quite statement jewelry but it’s not benign either.

I’m really digging this gold oversized circle pendant with a mini circle and gems within. Held together by wrapped wire it has an artisan edge. But it’s not too artsy-fartsy… still has some city trend.I like that the thin gold chain keeps it somewhat simple and easy to wear with casual tops.

The Shoe Savior

My colleagues won’t debate it. 3/5 days a peer will comment on my skyscraper heels, stilettos or wedges. “You’re gonna hurt someone with those things.” “Amazon woman!” “Think you can get ’em any higher Ang?” The list goes on. Half the time I admit- yeah I’m in pain. I confess as I reach under my desk for my frumpy pink crocs. That’s what I usually finish work in.

Not anymore. Meet Cinderollies. What can I say about them. they are my new favorite. They are paper thin but durable ballet flats that roll up and are pretty much weightless. I keep them in my purse and when I need relief.. I roll them out. The bag they are cleverly rolled in also turns into a shoe sack to throw your real shoes in. It can’t get any easier than that. I have them in pewter and in black and honestly pray to them as my “shoe saviors.”

More on the foldable, rollable, emergency flats here.

Don’t gawk, Swap!

Everyone has that one friend whose wardrobe is to die for! If you’re like me, you and your best friend may borrow each others favorite shoes or perfect accessories from time to time. Why borrow when you can own. Thanks to “The Swapaholics” Amy Chase & Melissa Massello, you can forget borrowing because there is a new way to get exactly what you want from friends for FREE.

USA TODAY: Swapping Not Shopping
PHOTOS: Swap party recaps

Amy and Melissa, the self proclaimed “The Swapaholics,” have a drawer full of tips for hosting your own clothing swap party. The gals explain this is a budget-friendly way to keep that wardrobe updated without breaking the bank.
The dress-up duo will be in DC Thursday, July 14th, from 6-9pm hosting one of their swaps. Participants bring a bag of gently loved fashions, which Amy & Melissa curate into a “swap boutique,” and at 8pm sharp, the swapping begins.

Perhaps the best part? Everything leftover from the night will be donated to Goodwill of Greater Washington to be sold in their shops to raise money for their job training and empowerment programs. Swap.com is this year’s event sponsor.
