Elton,Anna, Andre.. Courting a Cause

Angie reports ¬†Sir Elton John and Billie Jean King’s led the celebrity tennis match at American¬†University.¬† It was a tennis star showdown as celebrities took to the court to raise money for charity. Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova and Anna Kournikova and more turned out at American University for the World Tennis Team’s Smash Hits Celebrity Tournament.¬†For 18 years Sir Elton John and tennis legend Billie Jean King have hosted the event to benefit John’s AIDS Foundation; this is the first time the pair has held the event in Washington.

I admit it.  It took a couple days to accept it.

The BLONDES win big… the BRUNETTES gave it their best. Fellow Bru Carissa Maguire was not bitter after the heartbreaking loss saying it was a ‘great game in overtime.’ In the end the Blondes prevailed beating Team Brunette in O-T 26-20.¬† The MVP goes to…. all of the wonderful ladies regardless if they sport the pink or blue. Together they raised more than $100,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association.¬† It’s the kind of touchdowns… that touch lives.¬† Way to go Blondes vs Brunettes 2010.

Herndon High School Cheer Makes History

For the first time in the school’s 100 year history, the Herndon High School Cheerleaders place 2nd at Virginia’s State Competition. Special shout out to my little sister and coach Jenny Goff! Our family is so proud of you and the team. Great job to all… read the full story here.

Happy Birthday Lindsay & Alison

Happy birthday wishes to two great news personalities and friends in DC. Lindsay Czarniak and Alison Starling toasted another year together in the company of close friends and co-workers at the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown. Both birthday gals were glowing… Lindsay in pale pink cocktail dress and Alison with perfectly feathered hair. Lotsa media heads were in the room including Laura Evans from FOX5, NBC’s Wendy Reiger, WJLA’s Kris Van Cleave,¬†Rebecca Cooper, Courtney Robinson and Julie Parker and radio friends Sarah Fraser Hot 99.5 and Tommy McFly now with FRESH 94.7FM. (Congrats Tommy boy on the new gig!)

KEENfest 2010 draws hundreds for kids

Hundreds turned out for the 10th annual KEENFest held at the Embassy of France. KEEN which stands for Kids Enjoy Exercise Now provides free sports programs for kids with disabilities in the area.

The Herndon High School cheerleading squad should have no shame putting their hands up in the air these days!¬† They’re Virginia’s new Cheerleading Northern Regional Champs! This calls for an ‘ASK CHIN’ moment. Take it away MOM!

¬†Congrats to my little sister Coach Jenny Goff and her knock-out cheerleading squad at Herndon High School.¬† They beat out some FIERCE competition for the #1 honor of being named 2010 Regional Champions. Now it’s off to States this Saturday in Richmond where we are sending them kudos of good luck!

SneakerBall 2010: Long gowns, laces up!

Tuxedos, gowns…and sneakers? Star athletes, fans and¬†philanthropists laced up their sneaks and headed to the National Building Museum on¬†Tuesday¬†to celebrate DC’s best in sports. SneakerBall 2010 honored former University of Maryland basketball player Greivis Vasquez as the Sportsperson of the Year. The gala was put on by the Greater Washington Sports Alliance.¬† Full story..

The Greater Washington Sports Alliance is holding the only black tie and sneaker ball in town on Tuesday, September 14th. Held at the National Building Museum, there will be plenty of fantastic, fast-paced fun as attendees enjoy a cocktail reception, dinner, an awards ceremony, games and amusement.

In 2009, the event was  attended by big name professional athletes like Darrell Green, Alex Ovechkin, and Eunice Kennedy Shriver.

Doors open to the public at 10 for the official¬†Sneakerball after party. You’ll be happy you wore your sneakers if you’re planning to dance all night!
