Walk for the Animals!

Here’s a wonderful effort to support! The Washington Humane Society is behind the DC Walk for the Animals & Pet-A-Palooza. 100% of the proceeds stay in the DC area to help fund Washington Humane Society programs and services such as: local adoption programs, spay/neuter, Humane Law Enforcement, Humane Education, and behavior and training classes.

My friend Sumita has been a loyal supporter! You can donate by visiting this page!

First visit to “Four Sisters”

What I love about my girlfriends.. they love not only to eat.. but they like to try new places and foods! This time we chose the highly talked about Four Sisters at the new shopping center in Merrifield Virginia known as the Mosaic District.
We started off with a few orders of Goi Cuon (Fresg garden shrimp & pork rolls) and Cha Gio (Crispy Pork Spring Rolls). Being pregnant.. I was really loving the fried rolls this time around. Might I add.. there was not one roll left– they went like hot cakes.
Thank goodness we had our friend Vi with us. She’s Vietnamese and knows all the dishes and helped us order. I stuck with my traditional favorite.. the Beef Pho. Some of my girlfriends ventured out and tried the Caramelized Fish Claypot. Lettuce Wraps were popular too. Some of my girlfriends brought their kids.. and chicken fried rice was a good choice for them.
Check out my 6 second Pho… courtesy Vine!

The space was perfect, parking was easy and free! Really enjoyed the staff who were friendly and attentive.. especially for a big party like ours. As for pricing.. not bad: Dishes ranged from $8- $15. Apps started at $4.25.

New Korean joint!

So I swear my friend Sumita who is from India is more Korean then me. She is always begging to go eat Korean and knows all the great places! A gaggle of us ladies decided to make it a girls night out and head to Han Sung Oak in Falls Church. This place rocks for a big group because it has big space. We got our own private room in the back. Everything you love about Korean food.. expect it to be on the menu! Sumita took charge with ordering and the result was overwhelmingly good! Bulgogi, chicken, bi bim bop and kimchi jigae! My friend Shannon who brought her 2 year old ordered the baked salmon.. her daughter nearly finished the whole fish!

Feast, Fun, Philanthropy!

The food was amazing the entertainment grand at the annual Care To Lunch Chinese New Year Celebration at Hong Kong Pearl! The dinner which included a wonderful lion dance brings local businesses together to help an area charity. Hats off to Nina Un for pulling off another fantastic feast and night of fun! Must be the red carpet

She threw the red envelope at the lion she was so scared!

Oh Bebe’!

DC fashion blogger April Jones Firoozabadi (and my college girlfriend!) radiated in emerald green at her Paris themed baby shower in Potomac Maryland. The Parisian celebration of black and pink was a perfect way to get ready to welcome baby Sophia. I’m planning a similar themed baby shower for my little sis so you can bet I’ll be using some of these photos by Kipp Burgoyne on my Pinterest board!

Honey Pig: Friends indulge at Korean feast

We dig the pig.

After hearing rave reviews of Honey Pig (Gooldaegee) in Annadale, Virginia I said enough is enough, time to get stuffed. No Korean feast should go unshared… so I gathered with fellow kimchee and bulgogi fans. The rest is history… not grain of sticky rice left.

Society 2.0: Tracking DC's Top Social Status

There’s probably a lot of stuff out there you’d be surprised to find out about the so called movers ‘n’ shakers in this city. That’s why I’m tracking it online and bringing you the ‘best of’ every week in my new Washington Life online column Society 2.0!

It’s called the Social Status Report and today I pluck pix and bits from the twitter pages of Luke Russert, Leslie Sanchez at CNN, socialite Susanna Quinn and MTV International’s Blonde Charity Mafia’s Sophie Pyle.

We also hear from Queen Rania about Twestival. The 2010 DC Twestival is this Thursday at Shadow Room and benefits CONCERN, a charity that helps poor children through education. Buy your tickets for Twestival today!
