My Nerves! Horizon Elementary Spelling Bee

I have to admit.. I was a bit nervous when Horizon Elementary School asked me to be this year’s Guest Pronouncer at their annual Spelling Bee. I had to look up some of the words on the list.. seriously! In news you get so useĀ  to writing with short, tight words. We call it being “conversational.” It was cool to exercise my brain a bit more and even learn some new things.

The kids were great. All 5th graders competing for their chance to go to the Loudoun County regional round. We went 10 rounds before we had a winner! It was very cool to have students and parents in the audience- so supportive! Congrats Horizon on a great Bee! Shout out to Principal Jennifer Ewing for the warm invitation.

On the way out .. I stopped by the front office and loved seeing the staff has built a SNOW SHRINE complete with a Teacher’s Prayer for Snow! Ladies.. I promise to pass your pleas on to the News4 Storm Center ;)

Congratulations to the spelling bee winner! I was the 2011 winner, Vincent D’Agostino. I am in 7th grade and I have to go through the spelling bee AGAIN! If I win yet again, 2 1/2 months of being forced to study obnoxious words yet again :/
