Blowin' it up: Monster floats take Market Street

Move over Macy’s parade.. the Reston is blowin’ it up this year when it comes to the annual holiday street show. Check out the enormous floats that towered over Market Street at Reston Town Center. The annual Reston Holiday Parade happens the day after Thanksgiving. Mix 107.3’s Chilli Amar and Carson did a great job announcing the floats and I was impressed to see so many smiling faces crowding the streets despite the rain. The holidays: everyone must be ready! See more video from the parade on the OMG page at

Several years ago, on one very cold parade morning, I was one of the adult balloon wranglers (in addition to a whole bunch of lightweight Brownies). It is *not* easy to walk those things down Market Street! I remember being terrified that our cabbage patch doll was either going to take out some street lamps or smother a whole block of parade watchers. Much more fun to watch it from the sidelines!

Did I hear Jenny say, “yehhh Mr. Potato Head!”…? lol! love it! …I tried to go ice skating in Reston the other night but the rink was SO packed. Guess everyone’s feeling inspired from watching Skating with the Stars…or maybe that’s just me.
