Tree Time: Decorations picked!

I’m obsessed with Christmas. My favorite music is Christmas music (I’m listening to Josh Groban’s NOEL CD right now!).  With my new condo, new baby on the way and new outlook on life I’m so excited to decorate our family’s real ‘first tree’. I’m going to get a real fir– pickin’ it out this week. Meanwhile, I’ve already started working on my vision. Lotsa silver and gold.. vintage ornaments… old glass… and old paper. What’s your theme this year?

  1. Maybe you could even hang some of your vintage style stella & dot jewelry from the tree 🙂

We put all our stuff up this weekend. We went with a black, white, and silver tree this year.

I don’t usually put up anything Christmas until December 1st. If feels weird to do stuff before than. However, this year my son was begging to put up the Christmas tree since the day after Thanksgiving. This was prompted by him helping Grandma put up hers. Finally I caved in and our tree is up. But holding firm on the no ornaments until December 1st. We don’t have a theme. We have the same ornaments each year, some from my childhood, some were gifts. Each one has a special meaning to us. I do wrap ribbon and beads around the tree though to add a little sparkle. We always have a fake pre-light tree too.

I am in the process of designing our Christmas Card for this year. I do it all digitally and then print it out at either Costco or some online photo store. I’ve been doing this for 7 years now, hand making my own cards. Each year is different though. Whether it be the number of photos, the colors I use or the size and orientation of the card.

I also do what is called a December Daily album each year, documenting the holiday season. Things such as putting up decorations, shopping, traditions, making cookies, visiting santa, etc. Along with the mundane day to day not so holiday stuff. You can check out my blog to see my documentation of last years album.

Christmas is one of my absolute favorite Holidays. I’m so excited for this year.

Rachel! I love your holiday rules!! That rocks. The idea of the Dec Daily is brilliant too. I’m glad I am not alone in loving all this holiday stuff! Thanks for sharing!

Very similiar – the usual kids ornaments plus new silver ornaments, only white twinkle lights and old fashioned strung popcorn and cranberries – hopefully strung by the kiddos 🙂
